Canyon fires a gun for the first time (DUCK)!
As many of you know, Canyon is from the UK, where guns are rarer than dodo birds among the citizenry. While staying here in the states this summer, she got the itch to fire a gun after attending the Finger Lakes Summit. She was intimidated by the big guns and big bullets then, but changed her mind quickly.
So, I took her to the nearest pistol range and handed her my .22 S&W and Bersa auto to start with. The safely instructor insisted she start with a single shot from the auto. Here was that first-in-a-lifetime shot;
Upon switching to the revolver, she then did this;
To paraphrase HF; "I hope she never gets mad at me, man."
Here are a few other target pics;

Re: Canyon fires a gun for the first time (DUCK)!
Thank you so much, guys. I had been meaning to possibly try out the range before now, but seeing the guys at the Finger Lakes summit firing guns, spurted me into action.

The recoil of a 44 mag can be pretty stout too, especially if you're not expecting it.

Yes Stella,
Hearing protection is recommended, even for the .22 cal. weapon.

Yes, proper hearing protection is a must when on the range. The generic ear plugs you can get at the average drug store are not meant to block that kind of percussive noise which can still harm your hearing if not careful. You need to make certain your hearing protection is rated for that kind of repetitive booming.

Ummm.....Maybe I will have to bring my 44 mag to next year's Finger Lakes. It's a Dirty Harry special, a S&W model 29. It does make a really big boom.Michaelson wrote:Can't wait to hear when she touches off her first 44 mag!

Unh, uh. I know what you're thinkin'. Did he fire six shots or only five. In all this excitement, I lost track myself. Now, bein' as this is a 44 magnum, the world's most powerful handgun, and would blow your head clean off, you have to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya' punk?

As Fredrick Frankenstein said, "Nice grouping."
Good job!

I use ear muffs over foam plugs even for pistol and .22.
Canyon; it was a thrill hearing about your firing handguns for the first time! Judging by the results, you seem to be a natural. You should stay over here!

I prefer firing a 7.62x39mm assault rifle from 491 feet. Good shooting.

Canyon, you load the bullets facing in the other direction.
