I know this can be something of a diversive subject, but for my first thread, i felt this was a good one. I took a few pictures of myself in a characol pinstripe single breasted pinstripe suit and my Henry. Too me it works and other than my dark grey akubra, this is the best suited fedora for the formal look. Its amazing how a lid can top off the finishing product. I hope all will agree that the Indy lid looks great with formal attire, and moderators if you feel this belongs elsewhere feel free to move it.
...not to derail your topic, but may I ask what are those X-Files boxes flanking you? Figures?
Sideshow figures...only the best!!! They make great Indy and Star Wars figures too, and anyone looking for the best and most accurate figures Sideshow delivers.

Ah, I figured that's what they were. I'd heard that there were X-Files figures from Sideshow but never bothered to look 'em up.
I think the grey one looks better, in my opinion. But the brown one does look nice. Here is one pic of my wife and myself at my cousins' wedding last year. That is my first AB here.
I agree, looking good. I go with a brown fed for brown hued and navy blue suits, and a grey fed for black. I think you can do the grey with navy too if that's to your preference. The most important thing is keeping an SOC hat far away from a suit!
Both look good, but the tie choice favors the gray hat because it's colors are cool. A tie with warmer colors - some browns, tans, earthy grays, or olives, etc. It would balance the brown hat and bring the look together perfectly. Not that it doesn't work as-is. Just a little advice to help improve.
You're right Chewie, i was taking several shots with all of my hats, so i wasn't out to match the tie, just the suit. But thanks for the advice... Actually that blue tie is difficult to match with much, it looks ok with my akubra light grey CS train hat, the others...meh. With my indy brown, i usually have a very dark tie, black, or green, or the like.
Bronze is supposedly a good tie choice with gray, too. Though I've never tried it. That blue tie looks like one of those shimmery things that changes color depending on how you look at it. If so, I have never been able to coordinate one of those well.
When I read the title of the post, I saw "formal wear", which means either black tie or white tie (as in a tuxedo). Just a suit -- that would be semi-formal or business.
