Hello all,
A slight improvement IMO.
I'm still awaiting the opportunity to have this hat re-blocked professionally but I've been working on my bashing technique and I think it's slowly getting there.
Please be kind...!

I think you did a good job. The things I would work on are.....
-the center dent is to spread out.
-I think the front of the center dent maybe to low. Check the height for me.
- the side creases need to be put in a bit more. The creases that are on the side that go towards the front and down towards the ribbbon.
I hope that helps.

I agree with John, here, but if the hat is having tapering issues, sometimes the "spreading" of the center dent can help to eliminate some of that taper. I had to eventually put a diamond bash in one of my Akubras due to tapering, and it kept some of the boxy look to it.BendingOak wrote:I think you did a good job. The things I would work on are.....

My mistake, I thought he was going for a raiders creased hat. Is he trying for a LC hat? If so both triangles of the side creases needs to go lower.

That's a beautiful HJ Poet! Looks just like mine! Nice bash, also. Totally LC!!!

It's true I'm collecting LC style but given the current slight tapering problem I have indeed 'spread' the center dent and tried to compensate further by increasing the length and depth of the side dents. It's definitely improved a little, anyone familiar with this lid will know how bad the taper used to be.
Unfortunately, IMO it now looks more TOD than LC, quite close in fact but not my aspiration.
Cheers,
JTW.

That is a TOD airplane hat if i've ever seen one. A lot of people hate that hat, i like it, it has character. Our resident hatters here might know more, but with that much taper, you might loose more brim than usual on a reblock.
