I had a thread a while back where I was looking for an IJ jacket with a zip-out liner for colder climates. I think this would be a great option for vendors to offer.
I think this is going to be one of the last piece of gear i am going to order.
Of course this is not a real piece of gear, since it does not appear in any movie, but an IJ jacket with a fur colar.... So great in the cold winter...
I made this illustration of my vision of an Indy winter jacket several years ago. It has the closable sherling collar of the M-422a and hidden knit kuffs inside the sleeves.
I did kick around the idea of having a winter-Indy jacket made last year, but I eventually decided against it. Personally, I like the 'slouchy' and arguably form-fitting look of the Indy jacket, and the trade-off with a shearling/fur lined Indy jacket would be that it would have a puffy and boxier appearance instead, which goes against the whole look in my opinion.
There are leather jackets out there with Thinsulate insulation that drape very well. If Todd's, or G&B, or one of our other vendors made an Indy-style like that it would be a great cold-weather choice.
You can always go the MOTB route and get a Wyoming sweater from Magnoli. The wool sweater layer will likely provide as much warmth at any other lining and you don't have a buy a new jacket.
