Indy Magnoli jackets.. prop replicas or high grade stuff?

Post by blueoakleyz »

Or both?

Just wondering if their jackets are "just for show" or made to last with high quality leathers and stitching etc

Both, without a doubt. They look fantastic and are made extremely well. All Magnoli clothing is meant for honest use. Obviously, all hides have their own natural limits, but if your Magnoli falls apart, you're using it wrong! :lol: So, just make sure you choose a hide that fits the intended duty of the jacket and it'll be fine.

And his formal (not leather) jackets are nice too! I have a suit by him and it's the nicest suit I've ever seen or worn!

I know I've asked this at least 50 times..

but what's the cowhide like? I see so many cheap looking mall or thrift store jackets around town on people that look matte with large rough pebbly surfaces..

I know it's heavy but does it look and feel smooth? Have a sheen to it?

Magnoli's stuff is FAR from Mall garments.

If anything, all his stuff is OVER engineered, and that's meant as a compliment! :M: :tup:

I'll add my voice to the rest. The Magnoli jacket I have (Wolverine) uses top shelf materials and is put together to last.

The Wolverine jacket with the blue stripes is so tempting..
I wonder how it'd look in public?

Magnoli's cowhide is not that pebbly stuff at all. It has a slight sheen, but not a "shine." Here's a close up of mine, though it hardly does justice to the real thing;

My Lambskin Magnoli has had a rough time and been thrown around a bit and is still holding up extremely well. I couldn't more strongly recommend it!

Although I cannot speak to the quality of his leather gear, If it is anything like his shirts & pants, It will be able to take lots of abuse. The only suggestion that I can give you about ordering form Mr. Magnoli is the more detail you give him the better. When ordering from Magnoli or any other online MTM place the more detail you can give the happier you will me.

Very good advice, Bruce! Magnoli has a "Leather Garment Form" for measurements, but providing other info that you feel is relevant is never a bad move. If in doubt about something, e-mail him.

Another piece of advice I have found that works is that it is better to error on the sode of too loose or big. You cn always get a garmetn taken in at a local repair shop, but you cannot get it let out.
