Indy had more than one Jacket

Post by SurfinGorilla »

I read something in another topic discussing wether or not Indy had more than one jacket, as he had lost his equipment at different stages in the movies. I recently watched the films again trying to decide which jacket to order from Wested and happen to notice something in Raiders. Now being new to this site, this may have been picked up by someone else, but it happens so fast it may have been overlooked.
If you watch Raiders, when Marcus goes over to Indy's house and Indy greets him at the front door in his robe, if you look on the halltree(coat rack) on the right of the screen you will notice Indy's famous Leather Jacket hanging right there. However, as the scene continues you clearly see Indy pack another leather jacket from his closet and into his suitcase. Now this could be one of two things, you could believe that he really had mutiple jackets or... (more than likely) this was a prop/editing flaw where the stage people thought that you should see Indy's jacket waiting there at the door ready for the next adventure and when the film was cut and taped no one noticed. Anyway just an observation, any thoughts?

-Jon (aka Reggie the snake)

p.s. Michaelson is there anyway to change my screen/log-on name?

You have a great eye for detail (welcome to the board by the way!). I was just saying that to someone the other day but had never noticed it until someone posted a picture of the interior of Indy's house. Indiana Cojones got a picture here:

i just watched it and i see what you're talking about...my guess is its just a prop flaw. they probably were toying with both ideas and forgot to take the jacket off of the rack by the front door. good eye you got there!!!

Not really. If you look at his closet as he's pulling his jacket/shirt/whip/gun, you can see multiple shirts and jackets

Yep. It fits his character that he would have multiples, since he knows how much abuse they'd likely go through...plus, cotton lining for Egypt and satin for Nepal

I never noticed it either. Well, that's an excuse to watch Raiders again!

Just going by the picture, it looks more like a suit coat than the leather jacket to me.
