My Crystal Skull toy

Post by knibs7 »

Just my 10 ft Terry Jacka Crystal Skull whip in the mail today and I couldn't be more pleased. Y'all weren't lying when you said it was a beast! My forearm is really tight now from cracking it. It is one awesome bullwhip! I picked up my 10 ft Morgan whip after handling my Jacka and WOW. It felt like I was holding AIR. Here are some pictures for those interested.

Jacka definitely trumps the Morgan

Great comparison picks Kyle. The difference in diameter in the lower thongs of the whips is pretty striking. Congratulations on your new whip also.

Thanks! I have a question though, to all other Jacka CS whip owners, how long does it take to loosen up? Because right now it is really hard to let the whip coil and hang from my whip holder like my Morgan does.

Depends how hard you are on the whip and how often you use it.

I'm not an owner but train the whip and use it like any other. From Anthony "I dislike the term “breaking in” since I’m not breaking anything; rather I’m training the whip to form the loop earlier so it can flow longer and more efficiently to produce effortless, consistent cracks."

Great whip man! I've got a question, though. Why does your Jacka have a nylon cracker instead of the long polypro crackers Terry usually puts on those whips. Did you ask for it, or changed it? :-k

Have a great weekend,

Aldo.

I would like to go out on a limb here, not only for you knibs7, but for other COW members as well. If you are in need of a whip trainer (I love that new term), then I am your man. Feel free to send me your new Jacka's, Strain's, Del Carpio's, Nolans's or any other whips that are in dire need of training, and in 6 to 12 months you will get back a fully trained and house broken whip! Just PM me and I will give you my address! Oh and did I mention I offer this fine service at no charge!!!

That whip is a fine looking one and I bet as it gets trained it will be awesome to toss around. Thanks for sharing it!

Great whip! Is it just me or knots in pic showing "SA transition" look darker. If so, what did you use to make them darker?
Cheers

Beautiful whip! Congratulations  . It does look massive though. What is the diameter of the thong?

Haha yes they are darker, which is why I called it the transition. I just dyed them with leather dye.

Actually yours is very loose compared to what I have seen here. Most CS whips stay very tight for a while, I have been training mine for over two months and it is still stiff. Did you buy yours new or used? Some have mentioned "curving" the whip to get it to loosen up, but I don't recommend it since the binding is so thick on these and it could damage them.

Thx alot... I think the post itself was from July 27th!
but thx anyway

for those who is to lazy:
The diameter of the thong at the thickest point right after transition knot is just under 1 ¼" appox. The handle at the thinnest point just after the Turkeshead is 1" appox, there is a slight taper in the handle that thickens towards the transition.

wait a couple of weeks for my new order of paracord, and i'll try to replicate it! (20-24plait anyone? xD)

The reason it has a black nylon cracker on it is because I bought it from a COW member. He only cracked it a few times and I could tell. I would have thought it had NEVER been cracked if he hadn't told me otherwise. Can someone tell me where to get the Jacka crackers that are supposed to be on the whip?

The crackers that come stock are a white bailing twine of some sort. Not very resistant, only takes a few cracks to wear them down to nothing. White poly prop works well and maintains the SA aspect of it.

I thought about that myself. That many strands would take a LOOOOONG time to braid.

Which whip vendor(s) sell the white poly prop crackers?

At a glance and it was no means exhaustive, Midwest Whips and Mike Murphy could take care of it for you.

I think Mike Murphy sells a bulk polypro that you can tie yourself.

I don't know if they have it in white, but I have been able to find poly in a variety of colors at Home Depot and Lows, but I don't know if they carry it nationwide or not. I think they're only a dollar or two.

The extra poppers tied on with the falls that come extra with the whip do not look like the picture Kyle displayed. They are just a looped piece of white twine tied in three places.

In the end just make your own. I'm guessng the crackers were twisted nylon in the film.
