Question to Henry owners
Those of you who own a Henry...
My Henry has a sweat band from an AB Deluxe rather than one marked as a Henry... Am I alone in this or is this normal?
Just curious...

Re: Question to Henry owners
That's weird. Henry are factory made, not handmade. I'd understand if they were handmade - Marc could have picked the wrong sweatband - but this is not the case.
How did an ABD sweatband ended up in the factory that produces the Henrys?

Re: Question to Henry owners
No idea! It says AB deluxe and says it's hand made... I don't mind at all as it's a lovely soft band. Maybe Marc provides the parts to the factory and he gave them an AB band by mistake?
Re: Question to Henry owners
Did you buy the hat directly from the factory or "second hand" from a fellow gearhead?
Re: Question to Henry owners
Came from John's shop in the US as he had my size in stock

Can you post a pic of the sweatband where all the print is?
Re: Question to Henry owners

Re: Question to Henry owners
Mine's the same. It came from Marc @ the time John became a retailer here in the states.
Re: Question to Henry owners
Ah ha! Im glad I'm not alone then
Re: Question to Henry owners
A deluxe in a Henry? Are you sure?? Something sounds wrong about that. Fedora
Re: Question to Henry owners
Especially since isn't the deluxe sweatband cost like $45 dollars when a normal sweatband is only a couple of bucks?Fedora wrote:A deluxe in a Henry? Are you sure?? Something sounds wrong about that. Fedora

Re: Question to Henry owners
Yes, that's exactly what mine looks like. Funny, I mentioned this to Stefan when I got the hat, and he said the sweat wasn't from a deluxe, which I guess it's not. I don't think I really impressed upon him what the inscription said, however. I was curious, since I'd never seen one of Marc's hats.
Re: Question to Henry owners
It is a wonderfully soft sweat though. Very comfortable

Re: Question to Henry owners
To be sure, this hat is all around beautiful. I was actually hoping it would shrink some; it's a little loose on my 61cm noggin. And being a long oval, with the proportions of the larger size, the sides of the brim seem wide at @ 2 3/4". But with the stability of the felt, I guess I'll need to trim it a little!
Re: Question to Henry owners
"The Adventurebilt Deluxe... Handcrafted from pure beaver felt."
That's on my HENRY as well. I got mine just before I travelled to the Chicago Comic Con back in early August.
Does that timeline help with the mystery?

Re: Question to Henry owners
This is interesting, but the only person who can put a close to this mystery is Marc.
Maybe you guys got lucky and got AB Deluxes instead of Henrys!

Mine just says the Adventurebilt Henry. 'Course, I got mine from Marc, not John.

Doesn't matter who you get it fro. They all made at the same place and come from Marc to my hands. I'm waiting to see what Marc to reply to my e-mail.
Re: Question to Henry owners
Marc's computer is broken, so his answer may take some time I'm afraid.
I just mentioned this to him than we last chatted and he was not less puzzled than we. It might have to do (but I leave any explanations to Marc) with the circumstance that the sweatbands are also made in this factory ... but more from Marc.

Most of the time marc and I talk a couple times a week but have not this past month or so.
Re: Question to Henry owners
Yes, he's really busy these days. Both of you are, I guess ...
Re: Question to Henry owners
So it could actually be an AB Deluxe sweat band then? Rather than a Henry stamped as an AB-D? Are they actually different other than the stamp?Jens wrote:Marc's computer is broken, so his answer may take some time I'm afraid.

Re: Question to Henry owners
that's a pity. a Deluxe sweatband would have been a good deal for having a "wrong" sweatband - kangaroo leather? I can only wonder how it feels...BendingOak wrote:You got a Henry sweatband but stamped with the delux stamp info.
djd is right, this is quite a mystere. Dan Brown should write a novel about it
Re: Question to Henry owners
Sound like to me, that Marc is buying his Deluxe sweats from the same place that makes the Henry. He must have really liked the Henry sweat and decided to use it for his own handmade hats. That would make sense. Then, the factory messed up and used the wrong scripted sweat in a Henry.
I figured Marc would ditch the roo hide sweats one day. Afterall, it was a huge job to get them made. He would buy the raw roo hides from Australia, and then have these shipped to a sweatband maker.....
I don't blame him. The Henry sweat is the best feeling sweat I have seen, and felt. Must have really grabbed his attention as well.
Oh, also, I don't know where one could buy a sweatband for a couple of bucks. Not of leather anyways. Unless it was cowhide. Not sheepskin though. But you can buy them for around 5 bucks, wholesale. Fedora

Re: Question to Henry owners
Thanks for the insight Steve. As I said earlier it is a lovely soft band- very comfortable to wear
Re: Question to Henry owners
Yeah, it is a great sweatband. I notice mine every time I grab it and put it on the noggin. It's the best feeling one I have felt, outside of some vintage hats I own. But the goat that LLS uses is great too. Or it was when I got samples way back from his supplier.

Re: Question to Henry owners
so, Fedora, do you think Marc has stopped using kangaroo hide for ABDs sweatbands, or you know this for sure? I didn't understand well
