About $510.00 with taxes. Her bore is bright and shiny. I'm looking forward to shooting her!

M1917,

What other Indy guns do you have? How about some pics? Also when does Indy have a Colt 1917? I know he has the Smith 1917 but not a Colt.

If you look at some of the other postings here, there's quite a bit of discussion on the subject. In ToD, Indy loses his revolver when Willie drops it out of their car. The revolver in question is allegedly a Colt New Service. As Indy is a WWI vet, he would've bought surplus weapons he was familiar with, Both the S&W and the Colts used in WWI were set up to fire .45 ACP rounds in half moon clips.

Hope I didn't bore you with a long answer!

Fritz,

Yes, That's exactly my point. I've read through all the postings in this section and I have made many postings myself and it has been proven that the Colt 1917 was never in any of the films. Here is the thread that goes over this in detail:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=38086" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now don't get me wrong, the Colt 1917 is a great piece and a firearm that is time period correct and definately something Indy may and would have used. I'm a collector of firearms myself and have been looking to add one to my collection also. You have a very nice specimen and rightfully should be proud of it!! It's just not a screen used firearm that Indy used.

I'm curious to see your other Indy guns so please post some pics! My avatar shows my Indy collection and for a closer look go to this post:

I'm hoping the moderators of this sight will change the info regarding the Colt 1917 on the Main Page. It has been brought to thier attention but I guess it just takes some time. It took them almost a year to change the info regarding the Webley WG being the correct Webley and not the MK VI. We are all sticklers for correct and accurate information here at COW so I hope the corrections will be made soon.

I look forward to seeing some pics of your other guns. Have fun with the collection!!

I've been a Civil War Reenactor for many years, and then got involved in Cowboy Action Shooting. Most of my collection is cowboy guns these days. The only "modern" guns I own are my Indy guns. I have my Brazilian contract S&W M1917 which I converted to an Indy gun (shortened barrel, new/old style grips), a late war Browning Hi-Power, and now the Colt. I can reach a WG financially, so I'll probably settle for a good Mk VI converted to .45 ACP. Know anybody who's got one for sale?

Fritz,

I'm into Cowboy action shooting also and have quite a collection of cowboy firearms. Have you ever posted a photo of your cut down Brazilian contract S&W M1917? I would love to see it!

Yes I have! It's on here somewhere, unless the post has been deleted due to time. I'll check it and see if I can find it.

BTW, I took the M1917 to a local range a couple of weeks ago. I fired at a sillouette with an 8 and 1/2" by 11" sheet of paper at center mass, at 25 yards with a weaver hold. I fired 36 rounds through her (24 rounds of mixed .45 ACP on full moon clips, and 12 rounds of handloaded .45 Autorim). All rounds were kept on the paper. The Autorim rounds were milder, and had groups that touched edges. Her single action pull was sweet, but her double action pull was attrocious; what you'd expect of a gun that was carried a lot and fired a little. I know a smith that can smooth up the tigger pull some. She's not a target model and was never meant to be. She's a combat handgun that can still do the job almost 100 years since she was made.
