Re: Amazing photos of the LC film jacket....
quick backroom distressing for about ten mintues before going under the hammer.
Re: Amazing photos of the LC film jacket....
Looks like someone was a little over zealous with a Dremel Tool. It's the kind of distressing you'd find on an Abercrombie and Fitch jacket.

Interesting it has a Berman and Nathans tag sewn in.
Goes to show that doesn't mean much I guess
Some one must know the real story behind this. I've read all the anecdotes. (referring to the first jacket pictured)
The second jacket pictured (by Agent5) from the Chicago display has been confirmed as a screen used jacket?

Re: Photos of the LC film jacket?....
I'll just throw this out there for discussion's sake...but I never thought the LC jacket looked naturally distressed? It appeared as though someone took acetone and went around the seams of the jacket, discoloring the leather. To me, natural distressing would appear as abrasions, scratch marks, etc., on portions of the jacket, ie in certain spots, and would not necessarily appear to 'frame' specific features of the leather. Just a few thoughts.

Tundrarider wrote:I understand your point. I actually like the LC distressing on the movie jacket and on the TN LC jackets I have seen. (My first TN is due to arrive any day, and it is a LC. )Texan Scott wrote:...but I never thought the LC jacket looked naturally distressed?
My problem with the ditress job on the jacket you posted is specifically on the back panel. It looks like someone tooks heavy grit sand paper and and went back and forth across the back. This is not consistent with the results of rough wear and it looks awful and contrived.

...what about vintage WWI era tank tracks?
Also, some of the reproduction LC jackets made today have pointed collars, which seems to deviate from original specs?

The collar of that jacket that was on display in Chicago had a fairly pointed collar.Texan Scott wrote:..............

I don't think the collar was too rounded.
just what 'original specs' are you referring to?
Re: Photos of the LC film jacket?....
I think the only LC jacket with the round collar is the motorcycle scene jacket. and it is the awesomest collar too. I love that roundish collar.

I've seen your ToD... I think you can do a better job than that!knibs7 wrote:Hey- I was the one that distressed that jacket
Anyways, the kurtz jacket is still pretty interesting, especially for some of the "Raiders" features it seems to have. I don't think I've seen straps done like that before... sure, the x-box is nothing new, but the front is anchored differently.

Yeah Kyle, we are still waiting for that 'How to' video
Re: Photos of the LC film jacket?....
Interesting that there doesn't seem to be any evidence of a snap on the storm flap of that jacket. A little worn spot on the inside but nothing on the outside to indicate there was a snap.
As for the Chicago jacket, I thought there was some speculation that it might have been the "hero" jacket used in the castle and zeppelin scenes while the Smithsonian jacket was shown (pretty conclusively imo) to be the "tank" jacket.

Re: Photos of the LC film jacket?....
You guys are throwing some interesting terms around.
Can you define what is the Kurtz jacket, the Chicago jacket and the Smithsonian jacket? How do these relate the photos in the link? Photo 12 looks like the Smithsonian? In the first few photos, the jacket does not appear to have a visible snap on the outside of the top of the storm flap, which I thought was a 'trademark' of the LC film jacket?

Re: Photos of the LC film jacket?....
If I remember correctly, there is a lot of doubt here that the Kurtz jacket is an LC jacket. Certainly, most believe it wasn't screen used.
There are some threads on the Chicago jacket and the Smithsonian jacket. I looked them up when I was specing out my LC jacket.
Okay, I relocated an interesting one.

It has been discussed but there is still mystery about the Kurtz jacket.
