My new Wested!(with pics)

Post by mark seven »

I love getting a new Wested! :D
I called Wested yesterday and asked Peter if he had any size 36 Indy jackets on the rack.I was lucky-yes,he had a custom Raiders jacket(size 36,brand-new,no faults) in gorgeous authentic brown Lambskin-and spot-on for my measurements too! :D
Even better..he posted it same day and I recieved it today! \:D/
Wow,I love this jacket!
It was a little bit loose to start with(it's the fuller-cut Raiders jacket, and I'm quite slim) but I threw it in the washing machine and wore it wet until it dried and I think it fits great now(developed some nice grain/wrinkles too!),what do you think?
If you are flexible about what style of Indy jacket you would like, it's worth calling Wested to see what they have on the rack! :D

Very nice fit and very nice jacket. But its not a custom..they must have mixed it up..its an of the rack outsourced from India, I really can tell..... but who cares right ;) the fit and style is very nice..

Peter didn't say it was a custom..all I knew was he was sending me a size 36 Raiders in auth.Lamb..
I thought it might be a returned custom after it arrived because I saw the 'made in England' patches inside.

I think the jacket looks really good. Congratulations.

Holt,
Are you sure it's not a custom? The jacket has the made in England patch under the inside pocket. Mine is a custom and mine has that patch too.

Mark, that's a UK made 'Raiders' jacket, might be an OTR or custom it has a pocket on the 'left handed' side so that is slightly unusual. They don't put UK flags in Indian jackets.

That is a excellent turnaround and looks a nice fit. The little white label inside probably says made in UK too.

Looks pretty sweet m8, and about being from India, if it were, Im not sure it would be even legal to write made in UK, so Id hang on to the thought that its made in England.

Cheers and regards from Spain,

It just looks exactly like my of the rack jacket.

the facings.
the brass zipper and that it ends 1'' from the hem
the collar.
the big pockets.
the pointy flaps.
the lower yoke.
the D-rings
the empty strap box.
the rear armseam meeting yokeseam.
the sleeve cut.
and....the skin type, looks exaclty like my of the rack skin type. even though it is suppose to be the same skin...the Indian Lamb jackets has different ''look'' then a UK Lamb...

I mean, when they make a jacket in the UK they at least make one detail that is SA..I have NEVER seen a uk made jacket that IS spot on to an of the rack from India. Even though thye make the same jacket they ARE two different companies. You can tell them them apart with just the overall cut of the jacket aswell...

if this IS an UK made jacket it would be the first one I see that is IDENTICAL to an of the rack.

but... in the end of the day..it doesnt matter I think it looks great!! wish that I sometimes could settle down with an of the rack jacket.....................

Well, I guess it is a custom, unless Peter comes on here and tells us that India-made jackets now get Union Jack tags too.

What's the 'distress' ?

Some of the OTR's are still made in the UK. Mr Holt can't see the wood for the trees. The Indian OTRs originate from the UK pattern, naturally most details will be similar. All of the details he mentions are the current 'Raiders' OTR cut. In that respect the Indian OTR are an excellent deal. I do personally prefer the UK ones though.

If your jacket has tags inside that say it's made in the UK then it is made in the UK.

Wow, nice to know other people on here know about the Union Flag and the correct way to fly it.

Maybe it's a sign! Hopefully not!

For those who didn't get that reference, an upside down Union Jack (it's only called a 'Jack' if it's on a Naval vessel) is a distress signal that your ship was sinking. Hang on, did someone mention this already?

I cant see the wood for the trees? so your saying that my eyes are no good, I dont know details when I see them...right? thats a new one..

all I am saying is that members here and other places have bought several UK made 'Raiders' OTR jackets without requesting ANY special details and to me they all look way different..My Uk made 'Raiders' OTR is looking way different...

thats all I am saying.. Im not knocking donw on his jacket..

anyways.. I dont care.. Im happy for him...

Nice jacket, I think it actually worked out better for you that it was fuller cut
because it washed up great. I love the collar (I think the curled rumpled look is

That jacket looks nice on you. It appears to not be artificially distressed but washed so that the leather has relaxed, which is why I like it. You seem to be rather pleased with it as well. You'll have to post photos of it sometime in the far future to see how it's distressed and handled.
