New Strain is here!
It's not an Indy whip this time though - it's a 7' Aussie Style bullwhip, so it's got the 12" handle for targeting. It's natural tan with red accents. I'm really excited to have a more performance oriented whip, especially with the DeLongis style work I'm doing with the whip. Besides, I already have my ideal Indy whip, so I don't need another one. I feel like this is one of the last whips I'll buy (...but how often have we heard that story from people about other pieces of gear though? ).
I love the colors and the weight is good for such a skinny, mean looking whip. It's definitely a different monster than the Indy whips, but I'm looking forward to breaking it in. The two-tone is really cool to have, and I really like the pentagon design he put on the bottom of the handle. The cracker that Joe put on is kind of strange though - it's like a weird plastic feeling thing. I've never seen a cracker like that! Anyway, here are some pictures and a video!

Great Shane! Good to know that you're adding some variety to that collection of yours. Keep us informed about the performance of that beauty as soon as you can.

Beautiful whips, Allen! Is that a Jacka closest to the camera? How about that black one? What's that guy?? I'll have to take some pics of all my whips together when the new one comes.

Re: Just ordered a new Strain!
Hi Shane, thanks for the compliment
The one closest to the camera is actually a Del Carpio "Jacka" 10ft
The one behind it and to the left is a Joe Strain 10ft
The one that is tan is a David Morgan 10ft
The one that is black is a Terry Jacka Aussie 10ft
Crack On!

Re: Just ordered a new Strain!
Glad to know you're getting a new whip Shane. The whip on my wish list is very similar to what you ordered. Can't wait to see you give it a work out!

Re: New Strain is here!
Nice pics and video Shane. To either Shane or Joe, my standard question, what is the diameter of the handle. It always gives me a point of reference. Very nice whip, I like it!!!
Re: New Strain is here!
Beautiful whip, Shane. I've been itching for an Aussie style bullwhip, and that one looks great. I believe that cracker he put on there is a poly-pro cracker. At least that's what he put on my whip, and I think I remember him saying that's what he has gone to mostly. I think it tends to slow the whip down ever so slightly, which can be either good or bad depending on your style and type of cracking.
Once again, gorgeous whip...I'm envious.

Kenton

Aha! That IS what it is. He included an invoice that says it came with poly-pro crackers. I think I'll switch it out with a nylon one...ksteryous wrote:Beautiful whip, Shane. Hey Gary! The diameter is about 2.75" - it's real skinny!Gary Williams wrote:Nice pics and video Shane. To either Shane or Joe, my standard question, what is the diameter of the handle. It always gives me a point of reference. Very nice whip, I like it!!!

Hey guys! Thanks!
Kooniu - I'd get a stockwhip but I just don't like the feel of those ones as much as I like bullwhips. There's something about the handle / thong connection that bugs me. I'm not sure what it is!
Allen - He sure does! I took it out today for a few hours (compared to the 10 minutes from the pics and video) and it's really showing its colors. He's fantastic!

Re: New Strain is here!
I always loved the Aussie style bullwhips, using the longer handle just seems to make it even more fun, especially when doing multipal cracking.
