Anyone in the UK need a Webley WG?

Just a heads up to anyone here in good old Blighty that might be after a Webley WG.They are all deactivated and legal for anyone over 18 to owen in the UK .

Anyone with a interest in Webleys should have a look,I think they must of bought a very large collection up and there are a lot of different marks and models for sale.

Good if you're in the UK... not so good elsewhere.

I wonder if these have the cylinders demilled, where they cut into them and mount a metal piece in them so you cannot even load fake ammunition?

At least when you find a WG in the States it will go bang,even your excellent replica COULD be illegal over here

It depends on when the revolver was deactivated,before october 1995 the cylinders will have a slot milled between them and will take innert ammo ,after october 1995 the cylinders will be blocked off .

The older spec deactivated guns sell for a lot more now and vendors normally say if they old spec or old spec. The vendor dosn't say but by the price I would say old spec.

BUT PLEASE ASK THE VENDOR DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.

This is a very impressive collection.
Unfortunately, £895 is quite a distance from my financial boundary. I will have to stick with my replica for the time being.

Are you sure? I think because of the recent surge in gang activity in UK they're cracking down on an firearms including deactivated. I'm not positive but I think you'll have problems getting it through customs. Is anyone up to speed on UK law regarding this?

Why would you need customs involved at all? Aren't those pistols already in the UK?

I believe Customs issues usually only come from shipping items either into or
out of the UK. Not within the country. Of course, that is a sizeable bunch of income.
I'd check with the selling company first to determine how they ship them.

Deactivated firearms are still perfectly legal in the UK ,they were not affected by the recent violent crime reduction bill unlike replicas and airsoft .
If any legislation were to come in my guess would be that guns you own now would be ok,but you wouldn't be able to buy more,much like the new laws for replicas.

Most dealers ship them by regular post.

Just bear in mind this,

Live firing webley,illegal =prison+criminal record
Replica webley=,illegal=criminal record+possable prison
Deactivated webley=legal to own

Makes £895 look a bargin if you really want one. I do agree it is a lot of money,but is is something that will hold its value and more than likley increase in value over time.

Yep, replica weapons are now classified as RIFs (Replica Imitation Firearms).

To own airsoft you need a license, obtained by joining a local airsoft skirmish site.

Replicas I believe can only be owned if you do historical reenacting, but then again you
need proof that you do so.

I have a lot of friends in the UK who are Aliens fans (Colonial Marines) and they have a tough time of it if they don't play airsoft. Costuming has not yet been classified as a "reenactment."

Regarding the Webley's for sale, If the Cylinders were intact, it might be worth it to purchase one to transplant into a WG that has had the cylinder face shaved down.

Could someone in the UK contact the company to see if it's an original demill, or one of the later ones that require the cylinder to be blocked?

Also, does anyone know what kind of steel the Webley pistols (or modern revolvers)
were made from? What kind would a person need to use if they were to have a new unshaved cylinder milled out?

Thanks for the Bink,we all know what the general opinion of UK law is. This is not the place to go on about it and I did not want this post to be draged in that direction .

One more thing;
