Its time for another round of "Guess That Hat!"

Post by DR Ulloa »

You all know the rules only I'm changing it up a bit. First person to guess all three correctly gets a cookie.

Guess the brand; whether the hat is rabbit, beaver, or blend; and whether it is vintage or new.

Ok, the game starts...wait for it...wait for it...NOW(that was for you, Travis)!

It looks like an Akubra Adventurer, so that makes rabbit felt, and new?

 Thanks for the "nod" Dave! OK, i'm trying to Encyclopedia Brown this thing...you are a huge fan of Steve and John (as am I!) and everyone here knows that, so if you are playing guess the hat, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say its neither of those two. No wait...that bash looks very "Marlo" or was at least inspired by that hat, so maybe it is a Penman. We haven't seen any of Penman's customers rabbits, and it has been about three months since John announced his rabbit lids, which coincidently is John's turnaround time. And that ribbon looks very Penman to me (give me a closeup of that bow and I'd know better). So I'm going to say, Penman Marlo (Which would make it new) in rabbit fur. Final Answer!?!

Ok, this is not my hat. I should have made that clear in the first post. I saw this picture and just had to see what everyone else here thought of the hat. And now back to your regularly scheduled game show currently in progress.

I'm guessing an AB in a vintage beaver blend. Well actually I have no idea, but I like it very much. The side dents seem somewhat Crystal Skully, though. :-k

I wouldn't say it's an insult to the hat so much, as it is an insult to the pictures.

I'm guessing it's custom - looks too fine to be factory-made. If it's custom, that means most likely Steve, Marc or John. I'm guessing it's a new Penman in beaver. -M

OK...Penman is offended and SK says its the pictures. That means it has to be one of John's hats!!!! Above I said rabbit so it must be beaver, unless...it is a vintage lid reworked by John! But I'm sayin' John has definately got his hands in it!

That's pretty nice, Oak. Is the color as deep in person ( are the pictures a fair representation? )? What are the brim dimensions?
I gotta say, too, a hat like that - a relatively unusual color, etc... - really wants a different, special liner; SCARLET! Like a Marine Corps uniform.
At any rate, very nice indeed! Good work.

Its a very rich color. The crown is 5 1/2 and the brim is 2 1/2 non dim. cut. It has a black liner and looks sharp. I'll try and post pics of it soon.
