Finally ordered a Wested... UPDATED NOW WITH PICS

Post by TheExit148 »

So I finally put in my order for a Wested Custom Rola jacket. Finally got my specs finalized with some help from the boards and Heyjude7 (thanks man). Hopefully everything turns out the way I want it to. Really looking forward to getting my new jacket! List of specs was big, so hopefully the extra charge won't be too much. [-o<

Good luck! I'd give them a call to make sure they got the specs and check in periodically.. 8)

Yeah, already called them, they confirmed the order, and said will check the email. Everything should be good. Geez, its a pain to dial that # from Canada

My new Raiders jacket finally came today! I have to say Wested nailed my specs! This jacket looks awesome! The fit is perfect, length and all to how I see it, the leather is nice and soft (authentic goat, but thin as requested). It looks Raiders! I gotta say that Wested did a bang up job with my laundry list of specs, even has the silver zip and snaps! Its more of a Raven bar jacket, since thats what I was trying to go far, and thats more my personal style; the more fitted jacket. Thank you Wested and Peter! :TOH:

Here are the pics of the jacket itself and it worn! I have to say, I'm loving this jacket strong! The fit is perfect! Custom is the way to go for sure. This was my first attempt at a Wested jacket, and I think it came out without a hitch. The key thing for me with my measurements was what fits ME and what looks right on me. All my measurements were from jackets that fit perfect; one was a military style H&M blazer, and another was a M65 style jacket. I used measurements from these two jackets along with my personal measurements to combine to make this jacket. From their I downsized the pockets (from other jackets I've seen here), had a collar that suited my neck size while still looking as much as possible to the films jacket and a few other tweaks here and there. My only issue, and its small, is that it came with black sliders, instead of a tri-glide buckle. Again, no biggy since rectangular sliders were used in the movie. Silver zip, silver snap, proper inside pocket, higher up straps, smaller back panel (again to my measurements of my back across -1"). The length may seem a bit short with these jeans, they are a lower rise, but with my Indy pants, the length is perfect. Let me know what you all think good or bad. I must thank everyone though on the boards for all their hard work gathering SA specs and details, and Holt as well for his write up on his super SA jacket (it helped a lot my friend)! Thanks again everyone, because this jacket wouldn't have been possible without COW  :D

Specs:
Hide: Authentic Brown Thin Goat
All Cotton insides including hand warmer pockets
Sleeve: 26.5"
Back length: 24"
Collar size: 18"
Chest: 38" (the measurement across front of jacket its 21" exactly)
Pockets: 6.5x7.5
Back panel: 16x14.5
Along with many other measurements...

Don't mind the goofy looking faces in the pics haha

Re: Finally ordered a Wested... UPDATED NOW WITH PICS

The back was probably one of the harder things to get right since the back panel and yoke also connect with the end of the shoulder seam. I made sure they matched up where the back panel would end right at the end of my back just slightly before my arm pit. Since my shoulders width measured 17.5 at the lowest, I took off 1.5" and used that for the top of my back panel at the yoke, with a smaller shoulder length then Wested has posted, and it matched up perfect. I was worried it wouldn't come out right, but it did and had the exact look I was going for.
Jmacpix enjoy your new jacket, I'm sure it will be great! I really think Wested makes some great jackets, even though you need to research your specs and measurements carefully. But hey, thats all part of the fun! ;)

So you supplied all the measurements of the actual jacket size?

Bottom line is that it fits you REALLY WELL, man - congrats! :H:

Thanks a lot Yojimbo! Yeah I did supply almost all the measurements, my chest size, arm length, waist size and pant size, neck size, and shoulder width, then measurements of other jackets that fit me for a few more details of fit. Wested said these are all great to have, and had no problems with my sizes and requests. Took almost 2 months to get all the details right including specs to make it SA as I could with what info we have and how I saw the jacket on screen to my size. It was a process. My girlfriend laughed at how many times I measured myself and my other jackets.

Heyjude, thanks a lot! Thanks again for your help!

Hey, when you contacted Wested, how long did it take for them to respond? I sent them a mail almost a week ago but I have yet to hear anything from them.
Also, when you did receive confirmation of your order, how long did it take before it arrived at your house?

GreatDane: Once I put the order through, I called them about 5-10 mins later to confirm it came though, and my extra email came through as well with all of my specs on it. I also received an email before I called, since its automated. From there it took about 1 month and 2 weeks to arrive. I had to pay a little extra as well with the laundry list I sent. The best thing to do with Wested, is to call them, or send an email later at night (I'm on eastern standard time so I would send one around 11pm, and when I woke up at 8 I had an email waiting for me from them)

Jude: For the collar, I asked for 18", with pointy-ish tips, with Holt's sizing more or less, and supplied a picture of the Flying wing where's Harrison's saying "Marion..." Came out just how I wanted more or less, although the collar "training" will need to take place to get it like that scene.

I had to pay 15£ extra, was about $30 CDN. The best part though was that when it came there was no extra custom fees etc. to pay!

Nice! Congrats on a great jacket---you'll love it! I got my Wested Raiders Authentic Brown Lambskin almost 5 years ago, and I'm itching to get a heavier one for wintertime....

It looks great----love it & enjoy each time that you decide you're going to naturally distress it, but then douse it in Pecard's anyway....;)

In your pic, the collar appears slightly more pointed than other Wested Raiders I've seen, which IMO is SA.

As promised, here are some pics of the jacket collar and a few more details of it. Since its Canada Day today, I had some time to take some pics this morning. Now I've been wearing this thing almost every day that I can even in the heat  so the collar has taken on a better shape now then when brand new. I don't think that they are too much more pointy then the standard Wested Raiders collar, but I think these look pretty bang on to the one on screen.

Collar with flash
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2422/367 ... 08.jpg?v=0

Collar without flash
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2433/367 ... fe.jpg?v=0

Collar somewhat popped to show the tips
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2579/367 ... aa.jpg?v=0

Black Metal Sliders, Strap is 7.75" in length
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2464/367 ... c2.jpg?v=0

Pocket placement: 1.75" from bottom of jacket, left pocket placed 1" from storm flap stitch, right pocket placed 1.75" from zipper seam.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3664/367 ... df.jpg?v=0

Hope this gives you a better idea of some of the details. I'm loving this jacket, it fits perfect, and I think that it looks very SA.

Thanks a lot crismans! I appreciate it! I did spec out the yoke, its 5" from the middle of the bottom of the collar stand to the bottom of the yoke. Gotta love that high Raiders yoke.
