Hi Andy. What do you mean by making a template? Wouldn't it be easier to take note of all the measurements of that fall and then try to replicate it? Then, you could try to make it yourself or ask someone to cut it out for you?
If you don’t already have a replacement fall, You can cut your own from suitable leather or even easier just contact any number of whip makers for a replacement fall. Tell them the type of whip you have and the type of fall you need for it. Not every fall fit’s every whip though, so if possible try contacting the person who made your whip first, since they are usually better inclined to supply you with the most suitable replacement to fit the whip they made for you (though not always the case),
Providing the plating under the knot is tight & undamaged and the hitch knots themselves are still in good shape, Use method 1 where you are basically removing the old fall and rethread new fall though the existing hitch with out retying anything.
Thank u Gary, I'll check it out. Very interested in his videos.
Thanks Bullwhip.
I have already some falls in my hand. But now, its quite time to replace it. I'll check out all your links and let you guys know how it came out.
"Looks like a complicated knot..." but that's the same I thought about the cracker
