Question on plaiting...

Post by pfcyoung »

So i have an 8 ft electrical tape whip, shown in the video link below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOgKBZNN6Aw

i was wondering what are the dimensions of 550 cord that i need to cut to put one last layer on? I think it should be 8 strands so that way its 16 plait. Also i am extremely lousy at dropping strands :-({|=

also i have no idea how to tie a turkshead knot for the butt and transition

any help would be much appreciated!

Have you tried typing "whipmaking" on Youtube? 'Cause I did and a bunch of videos came up, and most importantly, Bernie's how-to videos came up. He shows you how to tie a turk's head knot, how to plait and I think he may even cover dropping strands. If not, get yourself "How to make a whip" by Ron Edwards, it's the first start on the road to learning how to make whips.
Good luck,
