Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Has anyone else noticed ... where my jacket is seeing normal wear and the finish is wearing through, the hide under the finish is almost the same color as the finish! Not that that's a bad thing you understand, just an observation.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Why has everyone stopped posting their Coyle jackets? Come on people, this is the perfect heading for those pics, and I'm getting very close to buying one.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
I tried in another thread so I'll try in this one too. I would really like Todd's owners to chime in on the collar. Do you feel that it mimics the bigger type collar (ala the temple scenes in Raiders). I've seen a couple of collars that do that (one standard and one custom) and I was wondering if my eyes were just playing tricks or if this is part of the pattern?

Erm, don't laugh -- Laura Ashley. The only two things SA about them are that they're made of wool and they have a military hem, but hey, they were $4.79 from a thrift store.alphared6 wrote:Who made your trousers?

Do the side straps have x box stitching? Also, has anyone bought one of the new "+" sizing jackets?

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Regarding the collar on Todd's jackets - my Todd's custom has a collar EXACTLY the same length and detail as my Nowak jacket. I thought it was interesting to see that both collars were the same.
Wested confirmed that the collar on my Todd's is 1 inch longer than what they would have put on one of their comparable sized jackets.
19 inches measured along the base of the collar / top of collar stand.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
When it was received, I applied some leather lotion to it and it really gives it body. Something about moisterizing the leather really adds life to its appearance. Nevertheless to each his own.Kt Templar wrote:Weston, I really don't know, I got it about 6 weeks ago from Todd. It's a medium, has about a 24 back and 24 sleeves, fits about a 40 chest.
That pic was of it out of the pack about 3 days, it had been hanging up to loose some of its shipping wrinkles, the sleeves almost looked like they had been ironed flat.

OK, K stitching. Close 'nuff for me. I'm most likely going to pull the trigger on one of these to tide me till I figure out what I want in a custom jacket.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
The TN has K stitching too, so this might be SA. Does the G&B also have K stiching? If so, chances are thr K stiching on the Todd's jackets are totaly SAtheinterchange wrote:OK, K stitching. Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Todd's is made to measurements from _ of an actual Raiders jacket, so it isn't tooo much of a surprise.Chris_King wrote:Regarding the collar on Todd's jackets - my Todd's custom has a collar EXACTLY the same length and detail as my Nowak jacket. It also appears they have made some changes to their standard, and the new Medium+ may be even closer to HF size jacket and the TN.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Well, the TN has K stitching because the jacket he copied had K stitching. So it must be SA.gwyddion wrote:The TN has K stitching too, so this might be SA. Does the G&B also have K stiching? There is also a post around here from a while back by Todd mentioning this along with other of his jacket details and a discussion he had with TN.
Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Well...Yes, but I wanted to state it in a more cautious way than that as not to derail the thread by starting an argument with those who do not believe the same as we do about which jacket was copiedRCSignals wrote:Well, the TN has K stitching because the jacket he copied had K stitching. But the thing I was pointing at is that there is evidence sugesting the K stitching is SA.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Sure, but it doesn't even need to be about which jacket was copied. It is likely the jacket measured by _ was not the same jacket as the jacket sent to TN.
While it is stated there were noticeable differences in the jackets produced for the movie there is nothing to say that more than one did not have the 'K' stitch. Could well be most did.
At any rate, the fact is Todd's does, and the TN does.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
There's several threads discussing X box vs K stitching. I think there was also a lot of discussion on it when the Todd's first came out. As much as jackets varied, it's certainly possible that jackets came with both. Even if there was a standard when originally made, a strap may have come off and been sewn back on any number of ways.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Good to know about the Todd's/TN comparisons, but the TN talk had nothing to do with my question.
Randy
P.S BEFORE my remark gets taken the wrong way. I was very interested in the comparison talk. Just couldn't resist the comment.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Sorry about that. I guess I should have tried to make my point about the K stitching without mentioning "the jacket that gets a lot of replies when it's mentioned"theinterchange wrote:Good to know about the Todd's/TN comparisons, but the TN talk had nothing to do with my question.

Point is, Todd's jackets are pretty darn SA as far as I know. Maybe more SA then some might think.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Why is that? Simple mention of a TN jacket? Any mention of a TN always gets a comment that borders on stigma for some reason.theinterchange wrote:Good to know about the Todd's/TN comparisons, but the TN talk had nothing to do with my question.
Randy

The discussion was about K-stitch, the TN has it as does Todd's, and reasons why were presented. That's it.
P.S. I realise your comment was made in 'fun' only because a TN was mentioned, but that's what happens.
The TN exists, it will come up in discussions just as the G+B often is, and jackets from other makers. They are the references we have to use in jacket discussion.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
I agree. I think Todd's jacket is very SA. He's put a lot of time and investigation into it to make it so, and appears to be continuously improving that aspect of it as well.gwyddion wrote:

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
I remember there was varied opinion about the K box at the time re the Todds, with some pointing to the shot of Ford on the flying wing as proof, others of the same shot as showing an X cut off by a fold in his jacket. I thought it was indeed a K as it terminates before the fold in his jacket.
And see, at least _I_ discussed this without mentioning TN. Oh, wait... *^&$ it!

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Haha, I know TN's are great and I'm in no way knocking them. It doesn't matter to me in the least if it's brought up in discussion. I just know some around here don't like it. No matter what, if you're comparing something, there's always a standard by which other things are judged.
It would be like a hat discussion not mentioning Adventurebilt.

the jacket is a smooth leather , and i'm thinking of distressing it but i think i will let that happen naturally,
Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread
Not for lack of looking, I can tel you. I don't plan on getting one but I never know where this insane jacket bug will take me. Todd told me that he's redone the pattern on the customs (again, I'm not sure about the standards) to more accurately replicate the temple collar so that has me really excited about this one.RCSignals wrote:You mean you didn't find a bargain in the clearance section this time?crismans wrote:I've got a Todd's custom on the way.
