Im really not sure how I feel about it...I am losing weight and gaining muscle...the bicep area and the shoulder area are kind of snug...but also, I kinda feel like Wested just upsized it from the original, didnt actually use the measurements I gave them...maybe Im wrong. I dunno. Another costume Im working on is just looking awful so Im really mad at the world right now.

The jacket looks extremely tight when zipped up. It also looks short but maybe it's because of your clothes. But it still seems short. The jacket just seems too lightweight for you since your a big guy.

See...I know I asked Wested to make the jacket 27 inches in the back...and this is not 27 inches. I know I asked for a cotton body with satin sleeves...I got an all satin body. It is kind of tight when zipped. Im hoping the lamb stretches a bit as it breaks in. I wanted something bigger than my LC in novapelle, and this is smaller in alot of areas. I can feel the yoke seam against my back when I cross my arms. I cant afford to return it, and I dont feel like it matters anyhow.

If it doesn't fit, you should send it back. Especially if the back is way off 27". How far off is it? Normal airmail is about $30, it's such a light item. Remember to mark it as a return for customs. And contact Peter to show him the fit. Your side straps do seem to be done up a little tight.

But in the end, this jacket may not be the right style for you. The slightly roomier in the chest LC or CS may just be better for you.

Couple of notes,

1) The yoke, feeling it across the back is normal, my one does that or did when new.If anything mine is slightly too big.

2) This is only offered in the SA full nylon lining. There are no other options in the drop down.

If the sizing is wrong, Joyce, send it back. Either have it remade, or get a refund.
Make Wested wear the postage both ways if they've made the jacket incorrectly.
I don't think it looks that bad, maybe the sleeve/body ratio is a bit off, but don't hang
on to it if it's not what you wanted, and especially if it's not what you ordered.

For what it's worth I think it looks fine length-wise except for when you have it zipped up. Then it looks way too short for you. If you're mainly planning on wearing it open, then you should be ok, though it's obviously not a long jacket by any means.

Hmm it does look a bit tight, but then again, that's how it was at the end of the movie. If it's comfort you are going for (and I think you are) then I would definitely send it back.

Sorry to hear your disappointment, although the jacket looks not too bad to me, especially if you're losing weight. The yoke seam against your back has to be an artifact of this jacket's design, however, and not an error on Wested's part (the rest maybe).

Its too small and too short on you. The only thing that looks good is
the sleeve length.

You need a larger size and about 2 more inches in back length if you want
a TOD jacket.

Perhaps they sent you the wrong one. It happens. They could have sent
you someone elses jacket, and yours is now in the hands of someone who
is wondering why their jacket is too big and too long on them, and not
what they ordered.

Send it back and get one that fits you properly. You will be much more
happy with it.

If you keep this one, its just going to sit in the closet collecting dust, and
you will curse it every time you open the closet door and see it.

So, should be 3 1/2 in from edge of storm flap or 2 in from stitching and also 2 1/2 in from bottom......seems like these are set too far back from seams...ie. is it a change made due to size of jacket or just poor placement ??

certainly looks closer than IJ's pockets.. besides the unfortunate trend that the pocket size is not adjusted with jacket size, one would hope the placement would not be extended away from the center the more sizes up one goes

Let me pose a question for the people throwing around numbers.

If we assume, just for argument that a hyperthetical jacket is designed for some one 6 foot tall.

The pocket is 2" from the storm flap and 2" from the bottom of the jacket for a size 40.

Now assume the jacket is for some one 6ft but a size 50. Should the pocket be 25% wider but no taller? Should it still be 2" or 2.5" from the storm flap? What does a 25% wider pocket do to the look?

Do we want the pockets always to be gauged on the front edge of the jacket or centred within the front panel? Something has to give. The proportion will not be the same.

I think it's a jacket that simply does not suit the larger sizes. Raiders, Last Crusade, Crystal Skull, no problem. But the Temple of Doom
jacket just doesn't look right to me once it's gets too wide.
It is still a nice enough looking jacket Joyce.

First, I can't understand people who are saying the jacket looks ok on him. It looks way too small, too short, he's uncomfortable in it and will most likely never wear it.

There's zero reason he needs to keep that jacket, either. Contact Wested, tell them the order was botched and either get a refund or a different style of jacket. Return shipping should be provided as well seeing it was their mistake.

As far a pocket placement and size I'm no SA expert by any means, but that jacket looks bad. Now to correct something based on jacket size is where it gets a bit complicated. I don't believe any simple formula (make the pockets 37% bigger for a size 46, etc.) will work. This would need to be done almost entirely by "eye" and "feel" to get it looking "right". This would be a bit of artistry and it can be done! I know from experience with other custom jackets.

Last night it was announced another ToD design is available, so maybe you might want to look into that as well.

I can understand moving pockets back on a larger size jacket, but on IJ's they look too far back. It isn't just the small pockets.

2" from bottom. Left pocket 2 7/8" from Storm flap edge (probably supposed to be 3" ?) 2 3/4" from side seam. Right pocket 2 1/8" from end of leather at zipper. 2 3/4" from side seam.

IJ, I hope you take this in the spirit it's intended but I just don't think that particular jacket is a flattering look for you. I think Kevin might be right in that the Temple design is pretty unforgiving for bigger guys (I'm a bigger guy myself so I'm in the same boat). Also, the pocket placement really looks off on that one. I just get the feeling that you're not happy with it and I don't think this will be a jacket you'll ever be comfortable wearing.

I'd try looking at an LC or CS jacket They have a more forgiving cut and handle the bigger sizes better (at least that's been my experience).

You know, I didnt even notice the pocket placement.:( If they made a mistake, then they sewed my custom label into the wrong jacket and sent it to me. Peter is on vacation(again) Gemma doesnt have a clue, so who knows what happened, all i know is, Im not happy, but Im gonna get stuck with this, I can tell. I specifically ordered the jacket in a much bigger size than i am, so that it would have a great drape. I loosened the side straps today and while its looser, its still not the fit that i wanted when i decided to order this stupid thing.

It's not a huge problem Joyce. It's a hassle, but it won't cost you anything other than some lost time.
Post it back. Get refunded the postage, get refunded for the jacket, and order a Temple jacket from US Wings, maybe.
You're in the US right? At least Wings is closer than Wested, and hopefully a little more helpful when it comes to questions
about their product.

Kevin, the biggest hassle, is the cost. A custom US wings is more then I can afford. I was able to afford this because of my tax return, which is now gone. Im just too big to be Indiana Jones, and thats something I should have realized the first time I found out that Aldens dont come in my size either. I guess I should email Gemma. And if they bother to get the email, maybe they will respond.

That's fair enough. Just make sure you don't just keep that jacket if you're not happy with it or if it's
incorrect. Contact Wested as quickly as possible and get the money back.
A several-hundred dollar jacket that makes you unhappy is downright depressing. I know, I've had a few.
Your Novapelle jacket is much better, and it suits you just fine.

I"ve had good luck emailing wested from my gmail account, for some reason they don't respond to my yahoo acct, but are very prompt with the gmail, maybe spam filters? I had to send back a jacket. It's definitely not what you ordered, you might try to sell something on a local tv station's free online classified's section if shipping is too much. I've done that in the past with some results for quick cash, if you have a local news station with an online classifieds section. ](*,)

You know what man, I think you look good in that jacket. The pocket placement is not right and that sits badly with me and others, because we get all strange about that SA stuff. It's a nice jacket and there's no problem here with a larger Indiana Jones, and heck, some of the smaller guys have the same issues about the look. It's interesting too that people who have the same size as HF often don't look right in the costume. It's not an easy thing to explain.

Do what you need to do, but keep the dream alive. :)

I am back from vacation and logging on for the frist time in ages I see this jacket.
The pocket placement does not look right to me either and I think you need to return it for replacement.
I will refund the postage. Make sure all documents say returned and write it in bold on the packaging.

With regard to the lining the TOD jacket has its own polycotton (nylon) lining and is not changable as I want to keep the TOD authentic, also the small pockets a feature of this style will also remain the same regardless of size.
Please also note that this jacket is slim cut in the body and sleeves and I would not recomend this style to the more meaty person. I have another project on the horizon which may well suit you better sizewise.

Apologies all round

Cheers Peter

Quick update on the washed goat jackets that some of us are waiting on:

Gemma says there was a new shipment arriving today of washed goat, and so backlogged orders will now be cut chronologically from the time they were ordered. (...bout time! It takes forever for those goats to do a complete rinse cycle, and hanging up goats to dry takes a long time, too.)

Just a taster for those of you waiting. I showered the outside of the sleeves for a few seconds and then left them to dry bunched up with a shipping tube threaded through. Then added a coat of pecards once thoroughly dry.

I really like the wrinkles....

I don't know how possible this is considering the amount of custom orders Wested and other companies have, but what about the company sending pics of the jacket with its measurements to the customer once its completed? I know some may laugh but I know this is done for custom action figures; I know its something else entirely but it would cut down on problems like this. I'd rather wait an extra week or 2 if I know it will be right. Rather this than getting it and sending it back and waiting again.
