I'll have to look at the rate, but I hadn't noticed that there was a fall in the pound.

Math was never my strongest subject, but wouldn't that make it a $210 jacket, then? Unless we're talking Algebra, in which case you'd need to factor in things like the time and distance in which the jacket needs to travel, as well as the name of the delivery man.ReturningSon wrote: well, dont forget to add that $30 for shipping. Re: USA wested fans...how about that exchange rate?
Anyone forget the added customs charge that usually arrives in the mail right after the item is delivered?
According to my current exchange rate scale, 1 US$ = 1.41 GBP, or 1 US$ = 1.25 Euro. That's as of today at 10:30 a.m. Central US time.

Apparently, a lot of people have noticed the low pound!
They are shipping a lot of jackets/shirts/pants especially to the US.

Per US Customs & Border Protection:Michaelson wrote:Anyone forget the added customs charge that usually arrives in the mail right after the item is delivered?
Most personal shipments worth up to $200, and gift packages worth up to $100, will pass duty-free as long as the recipient does not receive multiple packages in a single day whose cumulative value is more than these amounts.

Yeah, it seems pretty 'hit and miss' when it comes to our customs department billing their fees.

I don't know about that. When the price of oil and gas started going through the roof, the exchange rate was shot for a LONG time.

I think it was a bit lower a couple months or so ago. I'm sure there's a graph somewhere with a trend.

You're right, Michaelson. It looks like the pound hasn't been this low compared to the dollar in about six years.

$200? Is the pound suddenly that low against the dollar?ReturningSon wrote:well, dont forget to add that $30 for shipping. Wow...some great prices on those Wested Specials! They are even giving Todd's a run for the money in terms of value and quality on an Indy!

Basically whenever I buy something, a few weeks later the price drops, so if I keep shopping, you guys will start getting stuff for free:)

Re: USA wested fans...how about that exchange rate?
I feel you Indiana Joyce my two Wested jackets purchased last year were $335.00 for an OTR and $365.00 for a custom shipped. Not long after I recieved the novapelle custom at $365.00 the pound dropped in comparison to the US dollar and members were getting jackets between $210.00 and $250.00 US.
I would love to take advantage of the current exchange rate and order a TOD, LC, or even another custom ROTLA, super spec'd this time, but with my current financial situation and possible job loss that is out of the cards for me.
The same D@#n thing happened to me after ordering my Fed IV stnd. A couple months after it arrived I could have purchase a Fed IV deluxe for less.
PS: Indiana Joyce I have the same luck with lottery tickets, I only buy once the "jackpot" gets really big, and every single time I have done this a winning ticket is purchased but it has never been me.

I'm right there as well. I lost my shirt (well, actually my jacket) when I sold my HH Wested. I had bought it for around $350 and you could get a new one for much less when I sold it so I had to eat a lot.

A custom jacket that's 175 pounds plus the 20 for shipping comes to about $276. I wish I can get one but can't with no job right now. Of course when I finally find another job, the exchange rate will go up.

Re: USA wested fans...how about that exchange rate?
I recall that. At one point I did a conversion on xe.com that had the pound at about 98 cents! Even with the slight comeback, I think this is the right time to buy a Wested if you live in the U.S.Raider S wrote:I think it was a bit lower a couple months or so ago. Re: USA wested fans...how about that exchange rate?
It's likely that Great Britain and the US will be fairly well linked economically so we'll still be able to afford Westeds! By the way, I hadn't been to their site for a while. Kudos to Peter for getting rid of the second site and rolling it all under one web page. Now the Indy 80's fit are under the custom. Also, many of the specs are in drop-down menus. Excellent job Peter! Much better. Get your leather choices pictured and you'll be way ahead of the game. Particularly if there is something with a touch of imperfection and grain in the near future??...
Re: USA wested fans...how about that exchange rate?
Has anyone heard any news on whether Peter's effort to make the ultimate screen accurate jacket is coming to fruition. Is the aged look leather he's listing a new type or something he's had before? That would be incredibly good timing with the exchange rate as it is.
