I think they both look great, Joyce. I've never been an advocate of artificial distressing, like adding Fullers or bleaching, as it seems you've done, but it does make it more "Indy." I really like that Raiders crease. Looks good.
Thanks! The pictures, of course make it look lighter then it is. What I love about the LC one is that its so ridiculously soft. I wore it every day pretty much for months, and it softened right up. Looking forward to that happening with the Raiders.
I'm also in the camp of natural distressing versus artificial distressing, but if the goal is to mimic Indy's adventures, it looks spot on. Like others, I'm curious as to which brand of hats those are.
Bleach? It breaks down fur, and is not recommended for any felt. But, its your hat, not mine. I got some on mine years ago, and not pure bleach, as I was washing down my house to get rid of mildew prior to painting it. The bleach over time, ate a hole through my 450 dollar hat! It is inciduous stuff. There are other chemicals that won't eat holes. Just some advice for others. A public service announcement. Fedora
Look pretty cool. Do you have any that you have not "distressed?" Do you wear these around or are they more for display and costuming? I too wear mine almost daily since I got it around a month ago. I'm going for a natural distressing process. I plan to take it spelunking in a couple of weeks (although I'm not sure how my headlamp will work with the fed!?!). Again, I like what you've done. And yes, when you get a chance take a pic outside so we can see some natural light on those babies.
Yes, Fed IV's. I wanted the bleaching because of the obvious color difference in the SOC scenes. I wear my hat every day, which is why the LC is buttery soft right now, and the Raiders is still a little stiff, its newer. Once the Moonstone finally gets here, I wont be distressing that at all. That will become my non work hat. Both of these hats take a beating when I wear them, which is fine for the natural distressing. I agree however that I want my hats as well as the rest of my gear to look as if Ive done a million things in them.
