Todd's Sizing
I am interested in getting the Todd's ROtLA jacket for my first jacket to add to almost complete ensemble. Yeah! I was wondering what the conversion in jacket size would be. I wear a 42 regular jacket size, and looked at the chart on the website, and one chart says I should order a large but the other says I should order a small. Anyone have any suggestions as to the size I should order?

I would say a large should be about right, definitely not a small. I'm approx a size 40 jacket and the large fits me about right.

I too would like to know.
I have a US Wings A-2 2000 (normal fit) and it fits me just right.. not too loose or tight. If, in the small small range of "wow this feels like it was tailored to me" I would say it's more on the snug size.
When I tried on suits at JCPenney (I don't own a suit yet) 42 fits fine but might be a little tight... 44 fits fine.
Should I get an XL?
Can the sleeve length be altered or at least modified so the sleeves stay up?

I'm a 44R and a Todd's XXL fits me fine
I actually spoke with Todd before ordering because I wanted to be able to layer a sweater under the jacket. The information on his site suggested an XL would fit me snug, and an XXL would be a bit roomier. I think the XXL fits me perfectly while still allowing me to layer a thin fleece pullover under it.
For a 42R jacket, I would suggest an XL for a looser fit.

Todds SA Raiders Jacket is 1940's accurate!
I own the Todds jacket and I normaly wear a size medium in Jackets or size 42 regular. The Todds size Large fits me good but like a suit jacket. The Raiders jacket is if you want screen accurate, should fit like that. The jackets in the 1930's and 40's did fit more tailored. So its tailored that way(not really for the super size modern fast food baggy clothed era) Ford wore a size 40 regular. I own a lot of WWII accurate military spec A-2's and The Indy Lost ark jacket was modeled after the snug military style fit of an A-2 minus the ribbed cuffs and waist. The Todds jacket is awesome quality, don't be fooled by the lightweight lambskin. The SA lambskin is soft and light but it is tougher than people think because its dense. I distressed my Todds and it can take a lot and looks great. Anyone making this purchase will be happy cus Todd nailed the Raiders coat on the head, especially for the money! Definately get your size right though before you order and if your out of that standard size range or you are more of the modern day build you'll have to go custom. Then it gets spendy!

I was going to do this with my XL but the tailor told me that even though it could be done a line would show from the crease where the sleeve was orginally folded and held with adhesive, so I got the XXL which ended up fitting better in the back as well as the sleeves. So if you are letting the sleeves out the old fold will still want to be folded where it used to be and the crease can't just be ironed out.
Hope this helps.

So hold on... I too am a 42L, and if I want a Todds jacket I have to order an XXL? Geez, something sounds a little off with that sizing.thedurdens wrote:I wear a 42L (6 ft about 180) and orginally ordered an XL that almost fit but was a bit too snug in the shoulders and the sleeves were a bit too short as well. I exchanged it (quite easily, Thanks Todd ) for an XXL and the fit is perfect.
Hope the info is helpful.

Raider Spec
Todds sizing is not weird its just copied and sized as Fords Jacket was cut in Raiders (1930's fitting). Some IJ Raiders gear nuts like me want that exact Lost Ark look! Yah if you are a 42L and not a standard size as in Todds standard then if you buy a standard you'd have to get a goofy size thats made for standard big guy not a tall skinny guy! You would have to have a custom 42 Long made so it to fits right in the body and sleeves. [/img]http://www.theraider.net/showimage.php? ... ear_01.jpg[/img]

Re: Todd's Sizing
I tried on a Todd's OTR XL, and it was way too small. However, I wear a 44R in suits and large T-shirts and dress shirts. I don't even know that an XXL would be comfortable based on what I tried on. I'm not heavy set at all so I don't have a lot of girth, but the chest and waist were very tight. Also, the sleeve length was extremely short. It just seems odd that I cannot rely on the sizes I would normally wear to determine what size is appropriate.

Re: Todd's Sizing
Todds jackets run small and short. The sleeves are very narrow on the forearm too.
Be careful if you are over average height they really will be too short!

You might want to check out a thread I started on mine as well. Plenty of pics, and a reasonably good description of my size I think.

DeWayne
I'm probably in the over-average height as Kt Templar mentioned. I stand 6'1" and I weigh 195 although most think I'm only 180 so I must have the pounds distributed well. My waist is a 34, and where the zipper met at that point on the Todd's XL was definitely too tight. As I mentioned, the sleeves were also ridiculously short. Today I just purchased a Todd's custom 44L in cowhide from a fellow COW member (Coronado3) so I'm hoping those sleeves will be nice and long. His specs indicate they are 26", which sounds about right. I'm anxious to get it, and I'll make sure to post pics on the Todd's custom thread. Cheers.

Re: Todd's Sizing
Hi there,
as I mentioned in my intro thread, I found Todd's much smaller than expected. As a 5'10" 170 lb guy I usually wear a medium, which I find snug (even a little tight) but I prefer this to baggy styles. Thing is, because of my weight training regimen I have pretty big shoulders, and the medium Todd's I ordered felt way constrictive. I should have gone a size up, as I think a large would still have had the snug fit I like without the shoulder tightness. Thankfully its good quality leather and the back has stretched out some now. That's the beauty of these jackets: a little patience and adjusting and you can get them closer to your fit.
But in short, always order a size up with Todd's, or two for a looser fit. I'm now planning to head down to the Wested store and try on a few so I can get a thicker winter version to fit a sweater under
Hope your jacket suits when it arrives,
Best

Re: Todd's Sizing
Indysoldier, I know you ordered already, but with the Todd's, I think just forget what sport coat you wear and all the SMLXLXXL stuff, measure your chest at it's largest point, add 4" to 6", and check Todd's actual jacket dimensions. I wish I had at first!
