How long for a ToD from Wested?

I ordered a custom last Thursday(didn't expect it today lol) and what are your thoughts on time? Mid-March? I didnt order anything super specific, just upsizing. I think I ordered a 50 chest, 28 sleeve, and 27 or 28 back. And of course a custom label...Indiana Joyce Temple of Doom;)

I received an order number and sent an email to Peter, I got an email back saying an email confirmation had been sent but I didn't get that. Fingers crossed!

That all depends on which hide you order, others have gotten it within a week..

I ordered authentic lamb, some of those who ordered goat have been waiting since the Fall, (for obvious reasons) but those should be arriving soon now.
I don't recall anyone (in the US at least) reporting their ToD arriving in a week from ordering. Maybe I missed it.

I recall 2 people reporting they got it within a week but then again they could have been in Europe too !

If you ask for it when you order your jacket, don't the give you some sort of ETA?

My ETA was "We'll cut your jacket next week"...then, after a week "We'll cut your jacket next week"...then, after many weeks "We still waitin' for the Novapelle"...then, after few weeks "We'll cut your jacket wednesday"...etc.

I ordered mine on Dec. 18th, and they just shipped in Feb. 16th. but they had a long stretch in there of waiting for a new batch of goathide. So I think the idea of giving it 30 days minimum is a good bet...

Yeah I ordered authentic brown Lamb. I was just kidding about it showing up within a week.

I have my LC in novapelle in the meantime, and I need to order a tub of pecards as well:D

I've never had a wait time with any OTRs I've ordered but I'm sure mileage may vary.

Yes, mileage may vary. I learned that OTR does not necessarily mean "In Stock". If they happen to not have any of the size that you want left in stock then there is still a little bit of lead time necessary to actually make the jacket. I remember on one "Off The Rack" jacket I purchased being quoted seventeen days until the jacket was completed plus shipping time. Actual delivery time to the States from the date I ordered was just under a month.

Exactly.
A simple disclaimer asking the customer to phone or email to discuss the availability of their preferred hide before ordering would be nice.
Many might choose another leather if they're told they'll be waiting weeks or months.
Communication is the key to happy customers. Communication AND a good product too, I suppose.

Well, they DO have a few Washed Goat jackets that are off the rack... But as far as a custom one, they'll take your order but it'll be a wait.

If it goes through customs smoothly it could be with you Monday or Tuesday.

Did you get a tracking number?

sorry if i side railed this thread..
i ordered a raiders standard custom in horse
i asked for the strongest thread, aluminum zip, and small slit inner pocket... nothing crazy.. not much into screen accurate, just comfortability..

didnt get a tracking number, i talked to Gemma and then got an email saying order complete.
keeping fingers crossed.. hopefully i get it soon

buy a $5 phone card and call them.. but make sure when you talk to them, give 'em your order number everytime. that makes it easier.. good luck

28 inch sleeves?!!

Holy carp! Thats really long. Its about 2 to 3 inches longer than normal.
Are you sure you want them that long?

Also, did you order a size 50 jacket, or a jacket with a 50 inch chest measurement?

A size 50 jacket will have a chest measurement of 54 inches, or about 27 inches
from armpit to armpit.

A jacket with a 50 inch chest measurement will be 25 inches armpit to armpit, and
that is what a normal size 46 jacket has.

You must be really tall, and have VERY long arms to need sleeves that are 28 inches
long.

I ordered sleeves that were longer then normal, because I really am going for that bunched up creased sleeve look, and I know that in time the sleeves will shrink a bit too, so Im just being cautious. That and Im trying to get into Temple of Doom shape.

Sadly, I am quite tall. I ordered a 50 chest, this was a custom order. I found the new EKM site almost as confusing as the regular Wested site, so we will see what happens.

I am noticing a rather disturbing trend in the amount of "when will my jacket get here" threads. I pity the moderators.

Do not rely on an email, Joyce. You may get an answer, or not, but any request you make may just be forgotten.
Call Wested, and speak to Peter directly would be my advice, or you may end up paying postage to return a jacket that's
not the right size. Get involved and get the answers you need sooner rather than too late!

Surprisingly, I got a response without having to resort to buying a phone card. Gemma says that because I ordered a 50, it will be a size 52 chest. I emailed her again to ask when I could expect it, so Ill be able to go nuts in anticipation. So far for new gear Im waiting for this and a moonstone Akubra.

Glad you're getting responses. I've emailed both Peter AND Gemma in the past two weeks, and to date have received NOTHING from either one of them.

I know he's getting them, as back in January he replied in a post here to the email I sent him before Christmas:

Even though you got an email reply, if you had any other questions, I'd still go with a phone call. I changed the leather for my ToD, was told that the change had been made, and then got it in the original leather I had ordered about 3 months later. I'm sure they're covered so it's always good to have the "voice to voice" contact.

Michaelson if you remember my first nightmare of an order, they claimed they got all my emails as well. I like wested, but, time and time again I will say they need an IT guy and a customer service rep to answer phones. The business world changed once the internet took off, and they really need the help.

Maybe someone needs put on their gear and become a Raider of the lost Jackets.

Well, I've corresponded with Peter Botwright since 1996 (still have those emails too) on a GREAT many projects, but have been getting fewer and fewer replies from that shop in the last year, so I'm about done trying anymore.

I've thought about getting a Wested but due to their lack of communication and stories where people order one hide and get another makes me wary. I don't want to pay high shipping fees from UK, just to send it back and pay more shipping fees. We have US Wings and G&B here in the U.S. I can get from.

I don't think that can be right about only 2" of extra chest room. My ToD is a '40' and measures on the flat across under the arm 22.5". That's more than 2" of room.

I'd want to get clarification of that.

A size 50 jacket would be for a 50" chest measurement and have about 54" total jacket diameter at the chest.

I changed my diet, eating smaller portions as well, and im excersizing, especially in the upper body area. Someone called me a mesomorph once, I think that means I build muscle quickly so we will see what happens. Im going to a convention the last weekend of July, and seeing as how I bring my Indy gear wherever I go, I want my body to be as ripped as the shirt:)
