I think all three shots show that the barrel is definately 5+" long. The final shot shows, as mentioned, the ejector rod shroud.
As this clearly neither the Stembridge, nor the Bapty, nor a Colt 1917 (as clearly being used by some of Lao Che's thugs in the chase car). I submit, my dear Watson that this is . . .
Great gun, Archaeologist. I would definetely get a new barrel for the conversion. That is what I ended up doing. Back in the day, around 1990 I picked up one of the Brazillian contract guns for 125.00. It was parkarized and was missing the lanyard ring and only had packmar grips. Lee keppler got me a ring, vintage grips, and a replacement barrel done the way it was for Raiders. I had everything reblued and it soon had the vintage look. Mind you, this was all pre-internet. Now I find the grips are wrong as they have the medallions. Still looking for the CORRECT N grips. I would definitely
do the Stembridge as the 1917 was the gun they used.

Not to walk down a political path here, but I googled class 3 weapon ownership, and you're right, the $200 stamp is all you need.. but, it could vary by state.
Randy you live in a very friendly class 3 state. If you want some more info on class 3 ownership PM me and I can walk you through the easiest way to go about it
