Yup! I should have addressed the fit through Tony first, I guess. It's probably just my body-type. I'm smaller frame, but barrel shaped. So when I first got it, the shoulder seams hung past my shoulders and then stunk inwards pit-to-pit, with leather billowing unflattering. Now it fits better. That's why the disclaimer.
But please anyone chime in! I'm curious if the majority of people find this jacket has a better range of movement. I find the jacket binds at the shoulder, where you can that rotator-cuff crease. That crease restricts movement. Also, my jacket has big arm holes that causes the sleeves to ride up if I lift my arms up. From what I see on screen, this is accurate (note the grenade launcher scene). Moving inside the jacket is very nice, the lining material is superb.
But higher, smaller armholes, located at my pits seems to work well for movement, and I don't think this is a characteristic of the CS design. Just trying to give some feedback to Kevin. He might think about a TN Indy I instead...
Understood.
I haven't experienced any of the issues you have. In fact mine is the most comfortable and best fitting jacket I own.
I don't find the arm holes to be too large nor is it restrictive. Often smaller arm holes are restrictive, as I experienced with my first ToD.
I think you are right, you should have addressed the fit issues with Tony at the start, he's very good at fit for body type.
The shoulder drop is part of the CS design, but on you it sounds like it had an odd fit effect. Glad to hear the jacket fits you better now though.

Oh yeah, I could have scrawny shoulders/arms, too, so I shouldn't generalize about arm holes But I'm betting Kevin's a similar fit. I also would like to mention again that the higher yoke on the Raiders' design makes the back pleat more functional which helps movement.
Anyways, next time I'm in So Cal, I'll try to drop by Tony's shop and get measured properly so my next TN jacket will be perfect
I think the arm holes are too big, but it looks screen accurate. I like sleeves that fit closer up to the arm pit. Then, the sleeves move with your arms and the jacket stays with your body. When the bottom of the arm hole is further down your body, the jacket tends to move with your arms. That always bugs me.
I also like the jacket's sleeve seam to line up with the edge of my shoulder. This jacket has the seam a little further down the arm. Not proper fitting, but screen accurate nonetheless.
both jackets were replicated from the same source from what i understand. both should be about the same size other than some fine tuning needed for the 18 or so years that ford put on the 'mileage meter'.
don't trust pictures folks......they are only 2D ;-) .......that's one thing that i'm still trying to get over as well.....
Well, I was feeling a little wild yesterday and gave my TN Indy I a bath. Threw it in the washer, medium spin, cold wash/rinse. The thing that had gotten me about the leather was the shine and this took a lot of it off nicely. Now the thing looks more broken in. I will give this leather's detractors one thing: it absolutely STINKS when it's wet.
No shrinking at all which was a good thing. I've done several jackets in cold water without any shrinking so I thought I would be fine. And I thought about alcohol but I've never done that before and didn't want to experiment too much with this jacket. The wash just mutes the shine so there's some still there, which I think is pretty SA as the movie jacket did have some shine on it.
I'm right at 6 1/2 feet tall. The stormflap is 24.5 inches.

meaning, there is no extra inch to the front?
This has always been my understanding (and one of the things that gave me heart trouble when ordering). The way the jacket hangs off the shoulders gives the right length.

You mean your 6 foot and a half inch (6' 1/2"), or 6 feet and 6 inches tall (6' 6")? I'm guessing you are 6' 1/2".
Alcohol shouldn't hurt too much. Use 70% isopropol and you can thin it down with water. Test first on a place that won't show. Use a paper towel and see if it brings up a lot of dye.
It didn't effect the grain but it did remove some of the shine which has, in turn, muted the grain somewhat. I just let it air dry as I didn't want to take a chance of it shrinking ;-) further on me.
Today I have received the Mutt Jacket from Tony!
He did it again
It's such a great jacket. The best non indy leather jacket I ever had.
It's about 3 times heavier then the CS jacket. My back hurts a little
I like this kind of pain! I just went for 1:1 Shia sizing just with 0,5 inches added to sleeves and 1 inch added to the overall jacket length.
Fits perfect! Pictures soon. The red leather strips are not really that bright. They more burgundy color like the inner lining of the jacket.
I just need to add the pins but I don't want to put holes through that jacket right now.
Congrats Orb! I really like these Mutt jackets, you definitely won't get a colour debate with 'em They really do look like they've been used awhile, too.
I'm very happy to say that over the weekend I became the proud owner of a TN Indy4 jacket! I love everything about this jacket! It fits perfectly and the distressing job is great. Tony's a great guy and has been absolutely fantastic to work with. He even called me to verify a measurement that I made in error! Eventually we decided to go with Ford's measurements with a slightly shorter sleeve, and I'm so glad I did.
Don't have many pictures yet, so this is the best I can put up for now. Here's 610/777:
As people started receiving their TN CS jackets, photos posted on this site showed pocket flaps with varying degrees of scalloping. Some looked as scalloped as a new Wested Raiders, others looked fairly straight.
I, and probably some others, posted that the film jacket showed a full scalloped pocket in the scene where Indy rips a hole in the top of the Russian truck in the jungle chase and climbs out. Some COW members with straight angled TN pockets took offense and said the curvature was an optical illusion, or was caused by the stretching of the flap when it was buttoned.
The pocket flaps on my CS are more scalloped than my 1.5 year old Wested Raiders lamb, but those are scalloped too. I like the more pointed scallop on this jacket.
Either way, the pockets aren't buttoned in that pic so that's what I got. ;-)
Ah good to have the forum back
Meanwhile my TN Raiders Jacket in shrunken lambskin has arrived and Tony did again a perfect job.
I asked for a more smooth leather without too much grain and I really got a chamaelon like jacket.
One panel is really grainy and the other panel is nearly smooth. I love that! The leather itself is really much heavier then the Wested lambskin. The jacket nearly has the same weight as the TN CS jacket in cowhide. Here a few pics. I will post better pictures where everyone can see the leather much better.
About the sizing. I asked for 1:1 HF sizing except for a few inches added to the jacket length. It's around 25 Inch. So just an inch shorter then my other Indy Jackets (TN CS, TOD).
You look a bit taller than me (I'm about 5' 8", maybe 5' 9"), so I think 25 inch sleeves will do me just fine!
It's great dealing with Tony.
For the first time, I feel like I actually have some creative control over my jacket order.
In the past (you know what I'm talking about), it's been a case of, place order and hope for the best.
What type of inscriptions are available, or do most people get? I'm not thinking of anything other than possibly your name and maybe a drivers license number. What am I not thinking of???
You can get any kind of inscription you want. Just tell it Tony. First I wanted to go for the line: "Nazis... I hate these guys"
But it's not too good here in Austria when you have somewhere the text "Nazi" stitched
So I went for another Indy Quote. The famous words he said to Belloq. I haven't seen anyone here around with the same.
I also wanted the font text Raiders stitched inside the jacket. I like this much more than just "Indy1".
Tony can do whatever you want. When I got my raiders jacket I didn't want Indy I on it since the movie was not called Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. That title is Lucas remaking his own history ( Empire Strike Back is not supposed to be Star Wars episode V) So I sent Tony the Raiders logo and he used it first on my goat. I explained to him that the title of the movie is "Raiders of the Lost Ark"
