American Eagle Aldens alternates?

I happened to be in the mall the other day and stumbled upon these in American Eagle Outfitters.

I realize they have a rugged sole and lack the quick-lacing abilities of the Aldens, but I think they'd make a fair stand-in (ba doom ching). But has anybody owned a pair? What do you think?

I believe any shoe repair shop could replace some of the regular holes with quik lace hooks.

Those look pretty awesome, and considering I don't have the money for a pair of Alden's, I think I will go look into those today.

I like 'em!!! They're sharp and have an already used appearance. WHich would make their break-in period shorter.

Wow. These boots do look like the Aldens although the price is drastically different. I wonder how good the quality and comfort is.

I went to American Eagle Outfitters today to scopre them out, and they are pretty sweet. They look like they will do the job as an Indy boot. AND only people on this forum would be able to spot the difference. They have a nice feel to them. I am probably going to pick a pair up tomorrow, and I will let you know how they feel. I was going to use them for work, and break them in real nice, but I don't know how much abuse they will be able to take. I've bought boots in this price range before, and they didn't hold up. Like I said, I think they would make a nice leisure boot, and great for a costume, but they may not fair well running from the Hovitos, or used as a makeshift brake for a mine car on a collision course.

I went and snagged myself a pair today. They feel surprisingly hardy, though, as IndyBlues pointed out, they probably wouldn't last too long if you were being dragged behind a truck.

They're soaking up some pecards right now. I'll let you know how they are after I start breakin' em in.

Well, i went to AE, i checked it out. And they don't sell shoes in Canada. Bummer. i *may* order a pair over the internet. and i was wondering if anyone who has a pair noticed anything i should know about the sizing. specifically do they fit big or small compared to other shoes? i think it's tragic that shoe sizing isn't perfectly universal. couldn't we have this worked out by now? as a species?

I picked up a pair today. Great pair of boots. Very well made, but I do need to break them in a bit. They come with an extra pair of laces(dark brown) in case you don't like the yellow ones they are pictured with.
Also, the girl at the counter gave me a $15.00 gift card towards my next AE purchase. Pretty cool! $\:D/$

Jock, as far as the sizing, they seem to run a little on the big side. I usually wear an 11(US), but they were too big, and the 10s fit perfect.

I initially was looking for a new pair of work boots, but I don't know if I want to ruin them. If anything, they will look screen appropriate.

They look nice, but the heel is too "hiker". I'd stick with the JCrews in that price range..

Well, after wearing my pair for the last 2 work days, I gotta tell ya, these things are killing me. They look great, but they are putting blisters on both of my big toes. They are a little rough around the toe area. Kind of a sandpaper effect. I think you would have to double up on the socks to make these comfortable. If I didn't beat them up already, I would take them back.
I'm gonna check out the JCrew pair.

i love these shoes!
got them 5 days ago and used them
every day since. With the dark laces they
look great, mine are broken in now and
feel fine. You have to wear heavy socks
with all boots like this or your feet will blister
heavily. The diffrence beween this shoe and
the j crew one is that the sole can be replaced.
They are nice you just have to live through
the break in period
