how many jackets do you have?

Post by rrhanselka »

I currently have six Indy jackets, as follows:
1. Wested Standard, size 42R;
2. Wested 80's Cut, size 42R;
3. Wested Denim, size 42R;
3. Gibson & Barnes Expedition, size 42R;
4. Todd's Standard, size Large;
6. USW Special Edition, size Large.

I'm also waiting on a USW Special Editon, size Medium, at which point I will sell one of the USW jackets. I will also be selling all 3 Westeds, all BRAND NEW, I might add. If interested, let me know.

Many Thanks

Is anyone brave enough to admit what they've spent to achieve their jacket count? :oops: I'm not! If I were to do so I would definitely subtract the amount recovered from those sold from those purchased.

I've lost count of the money. Very soon I hope to have one last jacket- to-end-all jackets. It's not cheap, but you have to spend money to stop spending money on other jackets that really aren't very good, as the old saying goes...

Kind of like how we would use explosives to put out a burning oil rig? ;-) It seems counterintuitive if you don't understand the science of it and it definitely gets the job done more efficiently in a lot of cases.

How many is too many?

Post by LatteJed »

I have
1) Wested Lambskin ROLA
2) "Indiana Jones" from Disney
and a couple of close replicas.
I wear them according the weather (some are thinner) and what I'm wearing (sometimes sweaters or fleece need a larger fit) and where I'm going (nicer jackets for nicer events or rougher jackets for rougher events).
I often wonder if people think they are the same jacket, just in different light ( as in the movies), or if they notice the subtle variations. Obviously this crowd would notice.

I've got:

Wested custom HH Raiders
Wested ToD
TN Indy I
TN Crystal Skull
with a Wested custom Novapelle LC on the way.

I've lost count of the money from all the jackets bought and sold. I'm getting much closer to narrowing everything down. I know there's got to be a better way than buying and selling all of these jackets to get a few I like but I don't know what it is.

rrhanselka!! You're just the person I need some information from. :) I have a question on the fit between your Jackets. I orderd an OTR Wested 42R and I love it, perfect fit. However, as I am thinking about Todd's standard (SA and Todd has quality stuff) I would like to know if the Large Todd's and 42 Wested are simmilar in fit... ? How simmilar?

On topic:
I currently have two Indy jackets

1. 2003 ordered USW VIP cow, what a Jacket!!! but way too big, XL when 42 Wested is a perfect fit. Then I shortened the sleeves so it really looks awkward. And the sleeves ride up. I love the leather thought. However it's not SA and that's my goal here.

2. One week old OTR Raiders special. Wested is amazing!!!!!! Fits perfectly, sadly not SA enough for me yet. But I love the qualilty and I can't take it off :) :)

Early last year, for a brief time I had 14 jackets! Sold almost all of them. The ones I have now:

Wested LC Novapelle

Wested Raiders Lamb
G&B Raiders Goat

Currently, I have:

(1) Wested Raiders in lambskin from 1999
(1) Wested ToD in washed goat.

I've been nothing but thrilled with both of these jackets! I'm going to purchase another Wested Raiders, probably in regular goat... or maybe a LC in lamb or cow to complete the trilogy. :) I have no desire to pick up a CS jacket.

Going forward... my next ones will be:

2) Wested - LC - Novapelle

And... when the £ gets stronger against the $ (and a bit of money saved up):

5) Nowak - KOTCS - Cow hide

I only have two:

US Wings lamb purchased new
US Wings blue label from Cairo Bazaar

Next purchase will be goat from Wested.

Knowing how obsessive I have been with previous hobbies/collections, there will be more. I cannot help it, I have had the Indy bug for many years; I only found this outlet for it fairly recently.

Two.... U.S. Wings, roo jacket that I'm just starting to like and an A-1 horse hide that I really enjoy. I'm looking at a SA Indy one, but I've got it narrowed down to a couple of vendors. I should be picking which one in the next week.

No its not a LC but I do plan on one soon. I am not trying to get down to the stitch SA. When I do the LC I am going to do some modification to the CS design. When I get this new jacket I expect it will be great. Will it be SA I don't care. I just wanted something different.
