As I only ever intend to keep a replica gun in it, leatherette was strong enough for this home made [lefty] Raiders holster.
I followed the holster pattern on the Indygear main site.
It took me an hour and a half and cost me less than £10.
Also because it carries little weight the wooden block in the muzzle end was superfluous and I could simply thread the belt through slots cut in the back, rather than sew on a tunnel-loop.
The long seam was glued before saddle-stitching with strong thread.
the button is a jeans button.
The tab strap is also leatherette glued double, back-to-back, to make it stronger.
The final touch was to go over the fake-looking white edges with a brown marker pen.
