Looking for long replacement strap for MK VII Replica Bag

Post by Indiana O-Town »

Hi guys.

I recently picked up a Costume Base bag from "That Auction Site" to work on my first pass of "close enough" Indy gear. The bag is so-so but will work for the time being... unfortunately, the strap is way too short (it looks like a purse only going about half as far as it needs to). I've got a charity gig I'm doing later this week, so for the time being I've taken my LL Bean messenger bag strap off that bag and am using it for the MK VII. I've looked up various sites and suggestions on the strap, but now that I can post an ask questions... I thought this would be a good one to start with:

I'm a big guy, in the neighborhood of 350lbs and topping out at around six foot three. I need a long, serviceable strap for my MK VII bag. I'm really concerned about a new strap being "long enough" since I already wasted $20 on a stupid gamble over the weekend. Ideas? Thanks!

I'm also 6'3" and have Costumebase's bag so I got Todd's 72" strap. It works & looks nice.

Lee Keppler makes some nice straps in the longer length as well.

Third on Todd's. :)

But if you don't think it will be long enough for you to have the buckle in the right place, maybe you could talk to Wadeventure for a custom length strap?

I'm curious on this issue as well...
I ALSO figured that Todd's was the way to go, but I'm also "iffy" on the right length.
I'm 6 foot right on the nose and 190 pounds.

Any chance anyone here could post a few photos (or dig up some that have been posted in the past) in order to say:
"Okay, so here's a shot of me with my 72 inch (or whatever) strap. I'm 6 foot one inch"...so that we can see where the buckle rests on that measure of strap on that sized (height/girth) individual...?
:-k

Well mitch, I'm 6'1" 160 lbs and have Todd's 72" strap. I wanted to take a picture right away, but the battery was dead :x I will post one in an hour or so: that's when it'll be recharged.

Get the longer one!

You can always cut it down and make a couple of new holes a lot easier than adding to one that is too short...

I'm 6' 2" and the length is fine as-is; I planned to cut/punch holes if needed... Not needed...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I was thinking of Todd's, but then I thought I could just go to my local leather shop that made my awesome everyday belt and just order a length of leather with the snapping bolts sort of like one of those finnish rifle slings I read about...

Sorry Mitch, it took me a little longer to get my camera working again, but I got it to work.
