Thompson?

Where is the best place to buy a Thompson M1A1 for airsofting and just having fun?
I'm not really looking to spend over $150, but just go ahead and shoot me a reply if you have time.

Yeah, I was gonna say, didn't about 20 people get killed with Thompsons in the first 5 mins on the movie, and then later a bunch of Amazon dudes got waxed with them as well (at least they sounded like Thompsons".

Careful, Giben gets REALLY mad when you talk trash about Indy IV!

I watched that scene again, they all have Tompsons. My favorite for clearing a room, but no match for the accuracy of a nice M1 Garand.

Actually, there is no Thompson aisoft gun that is accurate for the movie as the ones in the film where M1928 or M1921 Thompson submachineguns, not M1A1s. The 1921/28 is the one more commonly seen in the hands of Mobsters as the "Tommy Gun", though thos usually have the Vertical foregrip and 50 rd. drum magazine. The film used ones had 30 or 20 rd stick magazines with horizontal foregrips. The major differences between the M1A1 and the 21/28 are as follows.

Reciever - The 21/28 has a "beefier" one

Sight - The 21/28 has a flip up, adjustable rear sight while the M1A1 just has a peep sight

Barrel - The 21/28 has a ribbed barrel and cutts compensator, both of which the M1A1 lacks.

Cocking Bolt - The 21/28's was mounted on top of the reciever while the M1A1's was on the right side.

M1928 "Tommy Gun" with vertical grip and 50 rd. drum

Yes, but it's been discontinued. They no longer make that one or the "Chicago Typewriter" one. They only make the M1A1 now.

it probably wouldn't be that hard to convert the airsoft m1a1 into the 21/28
that would actually seem like a fun project to do

But if you want an airsoft what you can try to do is get a 1928 tommy and remove the forward pistol grip and install a horizontal one.

You could check out a local gun show for an airsoft Thompson - they usually have
a ton of airsoft models on display/for sale ( the ones I've been to have, anyway )
Just a quick heads-up to any members in California. I was at a Crossroads show
last weekend and saw some brand-spanking new California legal semi-automatic
Thompsons ( 1928 and M1A1 models ) for sale!

They have a permanently-fixed
magazine ( wonder how you load it? ) and were priced at $1,499, I think.

You would probably need some sort of milling machine to make a new receiver to do it. The two receivers are quite different.

M1928/21

M1A1

As you should be able to see, the 28/21 has one solid width along the sides. The M1A1 starts at that same width, but has a ridge and get's thinner. From behind they'd look like this.

The 21/28 is on top, the M1A1 underneath.

I will be going to the Costa Mesa show next weekend 3/28. Will definately try to check those out when I'm there. Any one else going?
