Wested Raiders GoatSkin

Post by IndySoldier08 »

Hey guys, IndySoldier here. I'm new and have started to put together my ensemble with an akubra federation IV which I love by the way. I was interested in getting a Raiders goatskin from Wested and wondered if you guys had any pictures of that jacket that could help me in my decision. Thanks so much.

Wested Goat

Post by IndianaGeo »

Get the Wested Goat. It´s an awesome jacket. Ask for one made in the UK. In my opinion, they are the best.

I have to give praise to the washed goat as well. It's a very nice leather and a very SA look.

I love my washed goat. It's thin, lightweight, but very tough.....an ideal fall jacket. It also drapes as well as a lamb. I also love the matte color. To me, the color looks closer to the actual screen jackets than the regular goat. It's a great jacket for a fantastic price.

How is the thickness of the leather? Same thickness between the washed goat and regular? Are they about as thick as lamb or heavier?

This is my Washed Goat LC.
It's definitely one of the BEST Wested jackets I own.
I highly recommend it

The Regular goat jacket? Is it the Raiders goatskin or the Special Offer soft goat?

wested washed goat question

Post by topotts »

i want a OTR raiders washed goat. However, I do not see that on the Wested website. I see a LC washed goat but not a Raiders in washed goat. So what did you order from Wested ? :)

It's right under the LC on Wested's site.

Nice jacket but it does not look anything like a LC jacket. why is it even called an LC - it is a generic Raiders type jacket. Which is fine.

If you look at the jacket it's actually somewhere between a LC and a CS. CS type pockets, (rectangular pockets with a small radius at the bottom corners and minimal scalloping), CS storm flap studs, collar. I can't tell if it has the double seam on the shoulders. It also has the normal hem seam that 99% of Westeds have.

Basically if it didn't have the hem stitch and did have the extra shoulder stitch, and d rings. it would be a SA CS.

The pocket positioning is all wrong for a CS - too low. Also the pockets are too delicate in shape for a CS. As I said, nice jacket, but it isn't anything in particular.

I have a Goat OTR Wested; could not be happier. Tough, and very reliable. Good quality stiching, leather and craftmanship.

Peter has a great product, and if you do not have one, and can afford one; I would advise you to get one. I may even get a CS in Goat Rather than COW if I could ever get another jacket.

Basically I love Goat ;-)
