Yet another Adventurebilt question. Does it shrink?

Every felt hat shrinks, period. That what felt does. Thus, it's not really a matter of "does it shrink" or "doesn't it", but more a matter of when and by how much. A lesser quality hat might shrink quickly with normal use, while a higher quality hat shouldn't shrink for quite some time. I'm not really sure about regular AB's as I didn't own either of mine long enough to figure out whether they shrink, but neither of my AB DELUXES have shrunken at all (either in the size/shape of the felt or the size of the sweatband) and they've seen a lot of action over the last year. Granted, that doesn't mean they're taper / shrink proof, but their performance so far has exceeded all the other hats I've ever owned over the last 15 years.

So you think I should be safe ordering a 6 7/8" size instead of like a 7"

Just order the size that normally fits you.

Just send the measurement of your head to Steve and let him figure out what size to make you. Include a few pics of your head as well, thats what I did and my hat fits perfectly!

That is good advice if you don't know your normal hat size, and I believe Steve also recommends measuring your head 3 times so that any varying results can be averaged out. You could also go to a hat shop and try on different sizes if you are not sure.

No. All felts shrink, but the difference between the shrinking of felt and shrinking of a t-shirt is that felt also expands, so if it does start to shrink, just wear it and it will return to the right size. Also, the other reason why ordering a size larger wouldn't work is that Steve has added a process which ages the felt prematurely, making it shrink/taper far less. That, combined with the fact that the hat is made of beaver fur which doesn't really shrink much anyways means that your hat will hardly be shrinking at all. :junior: -M
