My airsoft redo

Post by Alex »

I posted some pics of my airsoft on another thread when I got it and distressed it some but never liked the inaccurate handle nor the half inch flat spot on the barrel so I did something about it. Enjoy. 8)

Certainly looks like the airsoft I have so may ask where or how you acquired new grips and where and how you got your lanyard ring and how is it attached? Looks great buy the way.

Thanks guys. I took the grips that were on there and cut them where they should be. This leaves a gap in it so I filled it with bondo and began shaping it to fit. You will find that the bondo will not stick to the plastic after a minute or so of shaping so I suggest you superglue it back into place. Prime it, and start making it look like wood again.

The ring is a piece of coat hanger I bent with a pair of needle nose pliers and attached with a strip of metal wrapped around the two open ends. I made a cut in the middle of the black part with a dremel cut off wheel and super glued it into place and viola'. Hope this helps explain a bit.

I paid 58 and some change on ebay for it. I should have gotten it from the link posted in another airsoft thread here but was duped by the claim that this is an all metal gun. Just the barrel, hammer, and trigger are metal, the rest is a high density plastic. Still......great piece in my opinion, especially for the price. 8)

I added a real swivel swing I picked up at Wal-Mart yesterday, two pack was $8.00. The swivel requires a lot of rough modding, a few extaneous peices were broken off and then I used my dremil tool to smooth it out. I attached it using that two part putty that hardens when activated. I thinks this two part putty would also work fantastic for modding the grips. I may try to make the diamond that can be seen in the middle of the grips and apply it. I still want to change the black grip screws to brass ones.

Here is my pic.

Sporting goods department, it was with the gun cleaing supplies and more inexpensive pocket knives that are not locked away in the cases.

What did you use to cut your grips back and did you have a template that you tried to follow?

And buy the way thanks for the compliment and you still got your gun for less than I did. I ordered from speedy toys but selected 3 day shipping, total was just under $75.00, but it still took 6 days with Sat. and Sun. standard ground could have here in that time frame. I wasn't real happy about that.

Alex -- All your pics are showing as red 'X's in my browser.... Sounds like some nice mods. I got this gun about a month ago, but haven't had time to monkey with it. Anybody try to shoot off a few rounds with theirs???!

EDIT: Not sure if you did anything, but the images are showing now, lol -- Looks great! I think, at least for starters, I'm gonna try to keep it to 'soft' mods that still allow the gun to function -- weathered paint, lanyard loop...

EDIT2: Weird ..... Now the pics are gone again, and the 'X's are back; drats.

I actually never got the chance to use mine as such. I had to cut half the gas chamber off to get the loop on right.

I never fired mine as well. Although I didn't cut out any of the gas chamber I did fill the recharge port with adhesive.

Today must be my lucky day. I ordered one of these Airsoft pistols from Speedy Toys this morning, got an e-mail early this afternoon stating it had shipped, and shortly thereafter got a UPS Quantum View e-mail stating it would be delivered tomorrow. The fact that I live within 13 miles of their warehouse might have something to do with it.

Then, while looking for sling swivels on the 'Net this afternoon I found some "close enoughs" on Fleabay for $1.12 each. They're 1950's era, used, and will require some cleanup, but I got two of 'em for just over $6 shipped. Image

I had one of these too. After I reshaped the grips I just heated them up to eliminate the gap.
