Indy Waistcoat

Post by Ken »

Anyone ever think of suggesting or maybe actually own a custom made Indy Jacket style waistcoaty/vest in leather (ie - like a Wested but without the sleeves)?

Maybe a Wested could be custom made with hidden zippers in the sleeves?
I guess that would probably work pretty well with the cotton Raiders anyway. :-k

I dont know - the idea of a cotton indy jacket just doesnt appeal to me in the same way as a leather one - its being leather is the very essence of what makes it an Indy jacket (and before I get ripped apart I hastily include: along with all the other specific specifications). In warmer weather I would still prefer to wear a leather jacket but without sleeves if this were possible.

I've thought of that myself. I suppose it might look a bit like the leather jerkins worn by UK (and some US) troops in WWI and WWII (with a zipper instead of horn buttons, of course!). I assume you would forego the collar.

Hmmm I never really though about it - I guess I really need to get a jacket and a sharp pair of scissors and experiment!

Ken, on the cotton Indy's, all I can say to you is to don't knock 'em until you've actually seen and tried one on. Regards. Michaelson

I've just sent my order for a cotton Indy to Peter.

I'll add my two cents to the reviews when I get it.

Don't tell my wife.

Of course, she'll see it on me. Maybe she won't notice.

Hey, we should start a "Don't Tell My Wife" thread.

Fair point - I shall just wait until I see one in person and until then try to keep an open mind.

Looking forward to that review
