Marshall College Jacket

Post by Stefan Hills »

Greetings All,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on who made the Marshall College jackets worn in KOTCS, the blue and cream ones?
Does anyone have any good pics of the jacket?

I wanted to see if Tony could make me one, if he had the design on file he could make other gearheads ones aswell. The complete making of Indiana Jones has some pics of the jacket from the back, but what I need is a frontal pic. I think that jacket would be nice alternative to the standard Indy jacket.

Any would be great,
kind regards, and all the best,
Stefan

That's a great idea. There is a place I go to get our company t-shirts made up, that does all kinds of varsity jackets and such. Give them the right images, they'll make anything you want. We need to collect some info on the exact style of jacket. Anyomne got any great pics?

Thanks for the bump dear boy,

Well since nobody seemed too interested I am going it alone.
I still need some decent frontal pictures of the jacket. But from my notes from seeing KOTCS 4 times now is that the jacket has the following,
Cream leather sleeves
Royal Blue wool body
Wool Collar
Buttons not snaps
White M logo on the left hand side of the front of the jacket
The words MARSHALL in white on the back in an arch
I have worked out the desgin for the knit sleeves aswell.

Kind regards,
All the best,
Stefan

I remember hearing from my friend who goes to the University of Michigan that their logo is identical to Marshall College's logo. Maybe try the U of M website? :junior: -M

We can do college-style jackets, so drop me a line if your other options don't work out...

Kind regards,

My younger daughter wanted to see KOTCS again so we went this evening. I remembered this thread and tried to spot some details of the jackets.

The sleeves look to be a fawn or buff colour, more yellow than what I think of as "cream". At the waist there were 3 horizontal white stripes. The middle one looked to be @ 1" and the top and bottom ones were more of a pencil-stripe.

Presumably at some point we'll see a good still shot to pull out all the details.

Me and Crazylegsmurphy were talking this over as well, when Michaelson pointed out this thread to us.

I guess I should have studied those chapters after all...

Sorry, this didn't come up in the search...so I assumed there were no other threads.

With that said, I think it would be better to go with Magnoli on this one than Tony (I'm assuming Novak) for the simple reason that Tony seems to make jackets that while good, can eat through a budget in no time.

Even at that, there may be companies that make these types of jackets for a living (there are a lot of high school teams out there) and they may give an even better cost...but I assume only in bulk orders.

Still Magnoli, is the way forward I think.

Can anyone grab some screen caps? There are a lot in the chase scene and the malt shop.

So, are Marshall's school colors blue and beige? I'm basing this on the color of the jacket body and sleeves.

Thoughts?

I would have thought that type of jacket would be right up Tony's street, based on the rest of his body of work.

Hard to say. The body of these school jackets (still sold to this day) is wool, and the sleeves usually leather or vinyl.
You just have to tell these existing companies what colors you want, and they crank them out by the boxcar load.

Would Blue (what shade?) and white (varsity letter color) be the Marshall college colors?

From what I’ve seen, I’ve always thought blue and yellow.

I’m going to say blue (hard to say shade) and white as that’s the trim. Collar looks to be pointed and no leather trim on pockets. Buff colored sleeves which don’t reflect the school color.

Shouldn’t a sweater have been more accurate? All my relatives in college in the fifties wore letter sweaters like some schools still do.

Here’s a cropped screencap of the back of the jacket.
