Awesome Indy Gun find!

Post by TheReverend »

I found this on the website of the great J & G's here in AZ.

It's not a .45, but that looks like a spot on Indy gun to me!

Smith&Wesson M&P or later called the model 10 they made lots of them, they're still made in fact. That's close enough for me. But it's built on the smaller "K" frame while the SA modified 1917 is built on the larger "N" Frame.

It's a shame I just shelled out for a new gun not too long ago (a cz 82, very nice surplus piece) and already own a .357 wheel gun, or else I would try to talk the girlfriend into letting me buy it

If you want the smaller K frame S&W just start looking in gun stores. You can generally find some former police duty guns for under $200 virtually anywhere in the US. Most of them are .38 special but the occational .357 magnum Model 19 or 66 (stainless steel) shows up for a little more. If you actuallly intend to shoot it, the K frame gun is a little more manageable size than the N frame for those with smaller hands. This is especially true with those thin worn to the point of being slippery wooden factory grips.

The previous user of this has scratched "Training Only" and "No Pin" on to both sides of the frame, the gun is fully functional and has a pin.
