I was writing some drill for our marching show and watching The Last Crusade at the same time, when I happened to look up and spot something. There is a small eyelet/grommet on the small inside pocket on the bag. The screen grab is not very clear (sorry about that) but it appears to be brass colored (it's towards the bottom right hand corner). I have never seen this on any original MKVII bag, and it isn't on any of the original bags I own. I'm not sure if anyone noticed this before, but I thought it was pretty interesting.
I have a good feeling that it is the snap of the flap. I noticed that as well, and I'm almost positive it's the snap on the bag's flap. Though it would be cool to have a screen-grab from the DVD now wouldn't it?
That is probably it! My bag just had that particular string attached the same way the lanyard for the disk wrap was attached on the outside, not with a brass ring.
Thanks Geordie!
Yup! That's what's on the LC bag, although the grommet on the LC bag appears to be slightly larger (but that could just be an optical illusion)
Here is a clearer picture:

We are doing a movie theme show. We are opening with Superman, Independence Day, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, James Bond Theme, Cantina Band, and we end with Raiders March. We are only doing a little bit of Raiders (only about a minute long - just the introduction, first strain and the "dogfight") due to time restraints, but it's there. I couldn't do a movie show without Raiders; it just wouldn't be complete.
Neat. Fax me the horn part? Haha, I just want to be able to play that little ditty on my mellophone. We're playing Four Scottish Dances by Malcolm Arnold. It's real cool, the first movement us horns don't even move so we just stay inside and have a sectional.
