Webley Holster Pattern?

Post by Mannie Bothans »

I know I am really new here, but I tried doing a search and came up empty.

Is there a definitive pattern out there for Webley holster (that was based on the real deal)? Anyone? Cough**Minnesota**Cough

I have been talking to an experienced (and very reasonably priced) holster maker who is willing to design a pattern from scratch that would please the community, but he doesn't have an original holster to work with and he would just be eye-balling it.

I made a holster from Minnesota's pattern, and it looks spot-on to me...But you might ask him...

I did mine as a deluxe lined holster, modified for my 5" barrel M1917. I'm making a couple more for myself and friends that will be unlined. Here's a pic.

the stitching on it was still a little weird (probably go with another chisel on the next one), but looks better now...

Sorry, didn't mean to step on anyone else's existing bidness.

Great job, PB! That's really beautiful.

Business? I'm not in the business. I'm just handy with leather and owe some people some favors....Belated birthday presents...etc.

Thanks...It's not bad, but it could be better...We'll see what the newer ones look like....I'm doing two 'regular' Indy 4" holsters, and one for a 6" S&W Model 29....

Cool. I love the look of that strap. The whole thing just has a nice look.

So is that pattern available for sale or is it floating around somewhere?

I found it when I was searching webley holsters online---and I stumbled on to Minnesota's site where it was...Dunno for sure if it's public domain, but I think so....

If I'm out of line with this, Mods please delete!

That was the pattern supplied by 'K On the Run' here on the forums.

I modded it (My pattern, not the original), extending the length by about 2-2.5 inches to make a webley holster for myself and it turned out okay. Never did get the plug correct though.

Actually, now that I think about it, if I had been using the true heavier weight "holster" leather (The stuff I used was about half the thickness of my IMA holster's leather) it probably would have worked out just fine.

Hmmm...

Thanks! The K on the Run is also featured on the main Indygear site, too. I, too, was thinking about just lengthening that one, but if there was an authentic pattern out there based on the real deal, I'd be really chuffed.

I haven't seen a Webley pattern myself. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist though. :)
