U. S. Wings A-2 and G-1 Jackets

Post by rrhanselka »

I'm so pleased with the Limited Edition Indy jacket from Sgt. Hack, I thought I might try one or two of his other offerings. Since I an a huge fan of the military jackets, I'd like to hear from any and all who have tried the A-2 and G-1 jackets from U.S. Wings.

Let me know what you think.

Many thanks

I've always been more of an A-2 guy myself. I bought one of their lambskin A-2s about a year ago. It is a great jacket, one piece back, two piece arms.
Im very pleased with it.

I have a US Wings G-2 (no fur collar) I got last year which I really like. It's a bit blousey in the shoulders, but I believe it was designed that way. Regardless, it was my favourite jacket over the winter and is very well made. My only issue is with the sizing, though it was from the big clearance sale a while back, so this may not be so much of an issue with the current jackets.

You really want to know? I wear a size 40, but had to send it back several times until I got this one. Believe it or not, the jacket pictured is an extra small. They recommended a large, but I gambled on the medium (which was huge on me) and exchanged it for a small (which I still swam in) and finally was able to get an extra small! This may be due to the fact that it was one of the clearance jackets as opposed to their usual current line of jackets. Regardless, what I did was take all the measurements from a jacket that fit me right and put them on a sheet in front of me. Then I called US Wings and had them physically measure one of their jackets in stock (without telling them my measurements) and then I compared the measurements.

Even if they suggested a size for me, I went strictly based off of physical measurements. If the jacket they measure for you matches your recorded measurements, have them send you that exact jacket they just measured from. Even though my personal experience with their sizing was a bit of a fiasco, I am very happy with the jacket itself. It is well made and looks sharp.

I have a "Top Gun" USN-spec Goatskin G-1 which i cannot rate highly enough. The only reason i have not bought from them again is the amount of duty i got stuck for at my end! My advice, get one!!
