Hilarious (to us) auction listing NO LINK

Post by riothamus »

Just came across an hilarious auction listing that I just had to make fun of.
It's an "Official licensed" replica of the film jacket so he claims... It's licensed, got the Indy logo, but it's nowhere close at all to the film jacket. I sent him a message letting him know. Here's the best pics.

You mean those aren't screen grabs from the film? Wow!

Kind regards,

Can you imagine if the camera moved as Winstone said, "This ain't gonna' be easy" and revealed Harrison wearing THAT as he says "Not as easy as it used to be..."

LOL
I suppose that could be his "part-time" jacket.

Curiousity lead me to eBay. What's interesting is that there is an Indiana Jones logo on it. I think I saw that logo years ago.

Does anyone know what that is?

this is (or should be ) sobering to us, this is how non geeks view indy, we are sitting here complaining about 1/2 inch difference in pocket size and id wager 90 % of people would honestly believe indy wore a jacket like this...

I got a great chuckle out of this thread and the jacket. Probably assumes the logo on the patch makes it an official movie jacket. I have some mugs, baseball caps etc. that have "official" Indy logos but of course we all know that does make them the real deal. I would give this person the benefit of the doubt in that they just do not know better. I did get quite a laugh out of Kittlemeier's comment about the hat. Oh and I also have a Tilley hat and love it (although mine is not this color).

Oh, no no no... You got it all wrong! That’s actually Indy’s *brother* jacket, the lost brother from the Indiana Jones V script. I heard they will cast Dennis Quaid, by the way!

That's pretty great haha! This made me laugh.

Then again, most general public is largely ignorant of screen accuracity, but screen-similarity? How can you not tell a diferrence between something like this and something like this and a jacket without white 'fluff'?

then again, how can some people think indy wore a leather hat? beyond me.

Those were sold in J. C. Penny's back after LC came out. So, it's officially licensed, yes....but for what film? Who knows? They were smacking that tag on anything that looked remotely like an adventure jacket back then.

From the 1989 Soundtrack from LC:

If you check out the Indy Jackets, this could be "B" as it has that "Sherpa" lining....

That logo is identical to the design embroidered onto a t-shirt I picked up at Disney World over 10 years ago. It is also very similar to my avatar, which is a scan of a patch that I also picked up at DW.

They do realize that Indiana Jones was a archaeologist and not a pimp, right? Looks like something Kat Williams would wear.

Anyone know what people are paying for those? I bet you could get a lower end Indy jacket for close to the same price.
