My new grey fedora
Well I just got my vintage ebay hat. It is a late 1930's Dobbs and from what I can tell is made of rabbit. It's not an Indiana Jones fedora per se, but it makes a nice grey to go with my AB (whenever that shows up). I picked it up for under $40 shipped. Let me know what you think.

It came pre-bashed.Piker wrote:You give it the Diamond Bash or did it come that way? Good look!
It looks a little small, but for some reason when I took the pictures, I had it sitting high on my head. When I pull it down a little, it looks much better and the fit is dead on.Pretty cool.......that ribbon looks huge though....Looks a wee bit small too. It's a tight fit isnt it?
Sure. It does have a Cavanaugh or Guild edge. There is a stamp on the inside that says Guild.Would you mind posting a closeup picture of the edge? It looks like it may have a Cavanagh edge.

It depends on the size and, of course, the condition. Vintage fedoras in sizes 6 7/8-7 1/8 (or even 7 1/4) can be had for decent prices. If you get up to 7 3/8 (my size, alas) you can start to spend real money. It's simply supply and demand; the average hat size was smaller then.indiana smith wrote:Nice! Aren't 1930s fedoras worth a lot?

Luckily I am a 7 1/8. It seems like most of the vintage hats on ebay that were in as good condition as mine were going in the $20-$30 range. And while they are not new, they are generally constructed better than most newer hats.Alan wrote:It depends on the size and, of course, the condition.
