Anyone Got Their JPD Fedora?

Post by rrhanselka »

I know this seems to be a recurring thread, but I thought I'd ask again. I was told week before last that my hat would be shipped last week. Two phone messages have not been returned. Has anyone received their JPD fedora or had any correspondence? I'm the most considerate guy around, but when you pay your money, you have certain expectations?

Jimmy, if you're reading this, all I expect is a phone call or my hat. Please let me know what's going on.

Many thanks

Anyone Got Their JPD Fedora?

Post by rrhanselka »

WOW!!!!!!
I didn't mean to ruffle so many feathers or to demean Jimmy. I posed the question only because I spoke with Jimmy week before last and he had allowed that he was shipping hats, including mine, this past week. I called twice this past week and left messages, but received no response. I did not try on a Sunday. I only wanted to know if anyone else had got their hats, and/or heard from Jimmy. And, YES, I ordered my hat 4 weeks ago.

Again, I apologize if I could have used different wording or should have been more patient. As I've always said, "I want more patience, and I want it NOW."

Many Apologies
Randall

P.S. to Aeris_Canon.
You must have me confused with someone else. I don't believe I ever said anything about not ordering a JPD fedora. I do like the looks of your hats, which made me decide to try one.

First, I want to apologize again to all, especially Jimmie, for my poor wording of my opening comments for this thread.

Secondy, I want to say that I got a call from Jimmie tonight saying my hat is boxed and will be shipped tomorrow. YEA!!!!!!!

I'll post pics and a glowing review at a later date.

Many Thanks

Indiana Chris......My credit card was billed on March 16th, so it's been a little over 4 weeks. He said 3-4 weeks, so a few days don't matter. Will let you know when I get it.

Just to put my .02 in.

I ordered a hat from JPD in march, and my card was charged on the 14th of March. I specifically asked about turnaround time, and was given the 3-4 weeks time frame like the others.

Last Monday the 14th of April, I called Mr. Pierce to ask about my hat, as it was 4 weeks. Was told it would be done either that next day or this thursday. Haven't heard from him about it shipping, so my hope is that it was sent out at the same time as Randoman's, and I'll get it early next week.

For what it's worth, I do realize that this is a one-man operation, and it's a custom-made hat, so I'm willing to give the guy some space. Quality work takes time, and in the end is worth it. Based on the reviews and recommendations of others here, I am really looking forward to getting my hat.

I would just suggest that for those who might be considering ordering from JPD, take the delivery times as suggestions, not commitments. You'll sleep better when the due date rolls around and you don't have a hat or a phone call. :D

When I get my hat, I'll be sure to take pictures for the group.

Sincerely,

Brian C.

My JPD fedora arrived today, only days past the 4 weeks, as promised. My first impressions are very positive. A very weighty and sturdy hat, for a rabbit especially. Much more so than the Fed Deluxe I have. I'm very impressed. A great color, great bash (TOD), great hat. If you're looking for a great value, call Jimmie. I'll be back for a pure beaver. Pics will follow.

Many thanks, Jimmie

It is a very nice lid, indeed. As I said, it is very sturdy. And for a little different look, it is not too tall. My only problem is the size. It is a full size too large, and it doesn't take well to putting foam under the hat band. The hat band won't lay flat and is uncomfortable. Any suggestions? Is there such a thing as a hat shrinker?

Anyway, everybody call Jimmie and order hats. He deserves the business, and needs it, and makes a GREAT hat. I'll be back for a beaver.

Thanks Again

Glad you like your hat and very glad and it was shipped within a reasonable time frame. Perhaps things are now changing for the better. That is very heartening.

Actually I did measure my head at 22 3/4" and told him that my normal size is a 7 1/4. You are right. I need to send it back.

Randall, what size did your hat come in?? The size you listed is right for 7 1/4. I am a size 7 5/8 and at 23 7/8 or right at 24 inches. I told Jimmy 24 inches for my hat. Hopefully I will be getting sometime next month. :D

AC,

I agree with you. It may be a small pain in the back side right now but when you get your hat the right size you will be very happy you did in the
long run.

AC,

Is that hat grey in your shot of your JPD? or am I seeing things. If so I like the fact that you gave it the "raiders turn." I did the same with my grey AB.

On this one I have to say that, in three years of running my own hat business, this is only the second hat to have a size problem.

I most have been having a bad day or something because they were both fairly recent.

I soil always fix size problems.

Hey Gang....
Let me start off by saying that Jimmie is a class act and has offered to fix my problem. Anyone interested in a Great hat at a Great price needs to call Jimmie.

My head measures 22 3/4" and I normally wear a size 7 1/4. This hat is like a long oval and slides, at least a 1/4", maybe more front to back. My head tops out. It's simply too large, but Jimmie can fix it, so it goes back tomorrow.

Hey A_C, is that a JPD lid that you're sporting? Very nice. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks Again, Jimmie

I talked to Jimmy and my hat will be shipped next week. So he is true to his word on the 3 weeks wait time. Will post pics upon arrival.

Again Jimmy is very nice to talk with and if the hat is what I expect I plan on giving him even more business...

Well Mr. Canon, I expect a custom made hat that fits as if it were made for me, , and a high quality rabbit felt hat creased the way I described to Jimmy. We've talked a few times and I know Jimmy understands just what I want. A Raven Bar crease with even deeper front dents, nice big camel humps and pushed down front brim. From the work I've seen on his website I'm really excited about getting the hat, Jimmy is very talented... :)

Woooo hoooo......Yay for you gabrielle, that means I guess mine might be around the corner sometime after yours. :D  We will have to compare hats, I just ordered a Raven bar bash as well, I did not go into huge details, I figured Jimmy knows what he's doing so I trust him. Can't wait to get my beaver hat Jimmy. Keep up the great work.

I received my hat from Jimmy yesterday, the 24th of April. From date of order / pmt to receipt of hat was almost exactly 6 weeks.

First off, I must say the hat exceeded all my expectations. :-D

Many people have give reviews, and I'll probably end up saying much the same as them, but here goes.

I ordered a raiders-style in beaver from Jimmy. I just told him I liked the "raiders" look, and let him take it from there. I did tell him that I'm in Oregon, and that it rains a lot. ;-)

This hat is substantial. I don't know how else to describe it. The felt is thick. Not as thick as say, a wool felt hat, but definitely thicker than the felt on my Stetson Temple. It's fairly stiff at the moment, but some of that may be due to some extra rain-proofing Jimmy said he'd put on it for me. The color is a deep chocolate brown. Someone somewhere else described the color of their hat as like a hershey bar, so depending on the light, it's about halfway between a milk chocolate and a dark chocolate color.

It fits like a glove. :-) Of course, I had let my hair grow a little since I ordered it, but shaved it back down this morning and the hat fits perfectly.

The inside is beautiful. It's hard to tell from the picture, but jimmy's logo is actually embroidered, not printed. Very nice touch.

Enough talk, on to some pictures. I apologize ahead of time...the pictured really don't do the hat justice.

I'd be more than happy to take and upload specific pictures if there is something you'd like to see.

For those who have the hat on order, I don't think you'll be disappointed. For those (and I include myself here) who have issues with stated delivery, patience is worth it. Just remember like others and I have said, you're working with an artist, a one-man shop, and make allowances for that.

Again, I can't say enough about this hat. I wish Jimmy the best, and am glad I ordered through him.

Sincerely,

Brian

Thanks for the great shots of the seaplane gray.
