Well men, it's almost that time so I thought I'd do a PSA and say to toss your razors until the premiere. I don't know about you, but my stubble may look SA in person, but the photos always look like I need to wash my face. Just thought I'd mention if for the folks that need extra time for facial hair to sprout.

Ladies, feel free to continue using your razors. :D

I've got too much facial hair already. I'm gonna have to lose some of it if I want to be screen-accurate.

Two days for me for SA.

Any longer than that and I start itching.

But these days, well, the SA look seems to have some gray/silver coloring in there that wasn't around a few years ago. I guess that was bound to happen sooner or later.

The other day, my girlfriend told me I looked "scruffy".

I replied, "Who's scruffy lookin'?"

Well, I'll give myself a good shave with my straight razor about a week before. It'll grow in quick enough in a weeks time.

Wow 1 month prep time! Who's Grizzly Adams? For you younger kids he was a mountain man back in the early 70's that traveled the land with a pet Grizzly bear thus the name Grizzly Adams. He was a man of hair!

4 days for me.

Luckily I took vacation time to ensure I didn't miss the opening or any possible advance screening so I can get away without shaving, as we now have a no facial hair policy at work.

My gear is RotLA but lately my chin whiskers are more KotCS :(

I've kept a short beard ever since 1981, shaving it completely off only once since that time. But that clean shaven look didn't last very long. Now I can just trim it back to stubble length, and at my age, the gray and silver highlights don't need any screen magic.

The grey is my problem too. Once my beard gets to the length it looks right, the grey starts to shine. I look like a bloody miniature schnauser!

I have to trim it again to get the dark color to show up for photos and pray that it doesn't turn grey (or red). I must be more "Mutt" than Indy!

I only need about two to three days. I'm unfortunate enough to have hair follicles of steel that show up a few hours after I shave.

So what do we do if we can barely sprout a full set of facial hair? Any makeup techniques out there for stubble?

In High School I grew it out for a week or better (maybe it was two, I can't remember it was so long ago!). Then some dark masquera (sp?) did the balance.

I seem to remember someone here used karo syrup and coffee grounds a few years ago.

A friend of mine tried "Just for Men" on his pathetically thin blonde mustache. After 3 weeks of growth, you still couldn't see the hair, but after he died it, you could almost make something out. You could always try this if you need some... enhancement.

In addition to the grey that's like fiber optic cable, then I have dark hairs that are as thick as speaker wire. There's the bald spots...

>sigh< :( Maybe I'll go as KOTCS Indy too!

Try a standard make-up trick: Get some dark brown or use multiple shades or brown and black if you desire, and a stiple sponge available from a make up store or costume store. They are also available via online stores, too, but I don't have a specific link for you.

Look for Ben Nye products, like a CS-9 Extra Dark Creme Shadow and a small very airy semi-stiff sponge. Dap it very lightly, as it's easier to add more, but too messy if you try to take some off before your night is through. If you go to a costume store that carries Ben Nye products, tell them what you are looking for and they'll set you up. The creme runs about $4.00 for a small 0.25 oz half dollar size container and the sponge shouldn't be more than a buck or two. Get a spray sealer so the makeup doesn't run or smear when you accidentally touch your face (and you will).

I get 5 o'clock shadow by around noon, so I'm not too worried about it.

I'll let it grow out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday--it should be just right for the pre-screening on the 19th. :D

Any one know what kind of Razor Indy might use?

Did they still use straight razors in the 30's? Or had the moved on to the straight safety razors?

Tomorrow is my last shaving day for a SA look Thursday night! :-k

BTW, safety razors were quite old in the 30’s!

Yesterday morning (Saturday the 17th) was my last shave until back to work on the 26th! Should have a few viewings under my fedora by then!

Yeah, I went to the source of all knowledge too when I finished my post.....So, I reckon Indy would've used a safety razor looking at the dates...unless of course he just wanted to use a straight...which who knows he was a dangerous guy....lol

Darn military regs. I can get away with not shaving for more than one day. Beyond that, it starts to look really bad. I figure with not seeing the movie until Saturday, and taking Friday off, I can shave Wednesday and keep a low profile Thursday.

How soon after the midnight showing will the posts appear asking how to get mascara stains off of a leather jacket collar?

I quit shaving on last Friday in prep for the midnight showing on Wednesday. So it's getting there. I think I'll have a nice amount of stubble by then.

I'll admit though, I have the worst facial hair growth pattern known to man. It's the most random thing you'll ever see.

I wouldn't ask your wife or girlfriend about that, they'll get suspicious.
