My first order with Todd's...now with Picture!

Post by SR5150 »

Hello!

Just placed my first order with Todd's today after his gear seems to be held in some esteem here...

So, I've grabbed myself his bag strap, Raiders & Crusade web belt (c/w brass buckles) & the gun belt - I can't wait!

Next month: holster!

Anyone from the UK got any ideas how long shipping usually takes?

Cheers,

Steve

Two weeks exactly later and BAM!

Box arrived this morning! :D

The quality of the product is superb and the bag strap even came with (thankfully) fitting instructions! 8)

Anyone who's not tried Todd yet, do so - I can't recommend him highly enough.

Thanks!

Well he is in England which essentially means he is in the future compared to us Yanks. So essentially tomorrow would mean in two days the way I see it in the Space-Time-Continuum laws.

Hi all, I just got another bag strap from Todd's. The 65" was too short, so I got the 72" instead. However, the difference in color between the two is night and day. The 65" is a much darker brown and the 72" I got today was much, much lighter in color. Has anyone else ordered more than one strap from Todd's? I'm not completely anal about SA, but just curious, which color is more accurate?

Can someone post a pic of a strap from Todd that they got recently? I bought one a couple of years ago, and he was out of stock for a long time. When I finally got it, it did not look like the strap on the site. It was fairly thin, and if there were ridges when I got it, they were gone within a few days. I'm thinking I may have just gotten a strap from a crappy batch that he obtained as a last resort to fill the order.
I still have the strap, but I don't use it anymore, because it is extremely flimsy and it now looks like it has a suede-type texture. I am going to be ordering some hat ribbon from Todd soon, and I would consider buying another strap from him if I can be conviced that this was a fluke.

I have purchased three of Todd's straps. They have all been slightly different in color, but none have looked bad or "wrong". My most recent straps (1 year and the other less than 6 months) are noticably thicker and stronger than the oldest one, so those concerned about that can rest easy. Still, I have abused the thin one with plenty of weight over long periods of time with no signs of a problem.
Also, I noticed that the two newest straps are very close in color, and darker than the first one.

I did notice that the new straps tend to shed... as in the back (suede) side. I kept seeing tiny bits of suede lint on my shirt (no stains). So, I sanded the back of the strap with fine grit paper. Worked like a charm.

Ron, you can see a few pics of the 72" strap I got from Todd a few weeks ago here if it helps...

Thanks guys. Those are definitely better quality than the one I got. I'll give Todd another shot on the strap when I get around to ordering.

Absolutely right, amigo!

As I said, the quality is superb. Good, thick leather (that smells fantastic)...the bag strap has "shedded" a little as Chewbacca Jones said, but a bit of light sanding put that problem to bed.

Thanks for the tip! 8)
