Most of the reference pics I have of other WG's show them with either a dull brass or a kind of steel grey front sight. Similar in color to the hammer and trigger.binkmeisterRick wrote:Hey, Rook, the only change I would make is to match the sight color with the rest of the barrel instead of matching them to the rounds. She's a beaut, though!
I can see your point though, it IS a bit on the bright side right now with the brass front sight.

I'll definately make a true list of interested people. I'm waiting until I have all the moulds done, and some made up before posting such a thread.
I don't take funds until I have something to ship, or something nearly ready to ship. Helps keep vaporware from happening.
Within 2 weeks I should have everything ready to rock, then everything will be revealed.
For COW members in the initial run, pricing will be the same regardless of if you want it "raw" or "cooked"... er, I mean painted. The only difference in pricing will be between domestic and international shipping.
I shipped a different kit to Sweden recently and shipping was about $30 for international priority mail.
Thanks for the interest everyone!

I outsourced my last two parts moulds (additional metal parts) and they're "supposed" to be here this week. I need to contact him again to see what the holdup is. I know they're having ice storms in his part of the country at the moment.
I plan on starting the actual pistol castings this weekend. When I get the other metal parts moulds then the real work begins.
I'm also making up a simple display plaque, similar to the ones Master Replicas does for their props. It will probably be printed on cardstock, but I'm going to see if I can't figure something out to give it a little more polish.

Let me give a tip o' the fedora to Rook on this. Got to see this beauty at Marscon this weekend, see my thread here: viewtopic.php?t=26824
Unfortunately, I didn't take a good close up photo of it, but it's a work of art! Never saw a "resin" gun (i.e.: not real) that opened up and all that. Attention to detail is amazing.

I'm definitely in for one. Please put me on the list. Finished and weathered. Now that's what I call a reason for me to get a Webley holster. I've been doing Raiders ever since I started, and slowly, slowly building to a Last Crusade. Tonight we are going to the opera to see The Magic Flute and I'm sporting my MBA black tie to go with my black stripped suit. Hey, who said Indy didn't like the opera?
When do I send the payment in?

Got the majority of 2 kits done today; Barrel, grip frame and grip panels. yay! Takes about 1.5 hours to get one kit demoulded with some clean up.
Having said that, I really wanted to have 6 done today. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.
Still waiting on the remaining metal parts moulds, but the rumor is I should have it middle of next week.
I think I'm going to limit the COW run to 25 kits at the $130 (in the USA) price. I still need to figure out the shipping costs to the UK/Europe, but I imagine it will run about $30-$35 or so.
I'll post full info and a complete updated interested people list as I get closer to being able to ship kits/finished guns out. Don't worry if you haven't been put on a list thus far, the "unofficial" list will be updated taking into account posting dates in the thread, as well as PMs and two outstanding debts to understanding people.
Thanks for the interest everyone! And for the record, if you really need one before May 22nd, baring any shipping problems you WILL have it before May 22nd or my name's not Marcus Brody!
Wait, my name Isn't Marcus Brody... oh, never mind.
Cheers,
Russ

Russ - don't know if anybody has considered doing this when they make replicas but are you planning, or have considered, numbering your Webleys? Unless you plan on making a set number of replicas and no more, you wouldn't be able to number them as "NN of XX", but you could just number them "NN" as you complete them. Or maybe just number the first 25 as "NN/XX' for the COW run.

I was actually planning on numbering them on the inside, under the
grips, but perhaps it should be someplace more visible? Maybe on the flat
section under the cylinder when the barrel is closed?
Which would the membership prefer, obvious or hidden?
The COW "27 run" (I changed it from 25 to reflect the fact that 2008 is
the 27th anniversary since Raiders was released in 1981) will be at the
lower price point. I plan to still offer them for as long as the moulds last.
pricing will be a little higher though after the initial run.
For the initial run they will be numbered something like C.O.W. #XX/27
After that it will just be #28, #29, etc.
@Kali Yuga: Germany as of a few years ago (I don't know if the ruling
has changed or not) did allow airsoft guns as long as they do NOT fire full
auto. I don't know how this applies to non-functioning gun replicas.
The semi-official "27 run" list is:
C.O.W. #03 - Minnesota Jones (Previous debt -IOU )
C.O.W. #04 - Indy Magnoli (Previous Debt - IOU )
C.O.W. #05 - Indiana Crowe
C.O.W. #06 - Bleyd
C.O.W. #07 - Texas Raider
C.O.W. #08 - Indiana Max

for detailing/painting.

Good idea... except there's already a number there.Indiana Bond wrote:How about numbering them the same place as the serial number is located on the original? Right side of frame below the cylinder.
I supppose I could put the COW number beside the original
serial number. I have a set of punches on the way, I'll have to experiment on my prototype pistol to see which is better.
I thought that would be a good place because it would only be seen when you open the pistol.Other wise the flat section under the cylinder when the barrel is closed would be good.
I figure I'll let the membership decide where they want it.

The flat section under the cylinder when the barrel is closed sounds good to me. That way the exterior view is left as a Webley would normally look. Do you have a preference for the holster to fit it? I know there are a lot of vendors offering Webley holsters but do you have a source that you think is a better fit than maybe some of the others and is still close to SA (for those of us that may not have a holster yet)?

When I got my Webley WG it came with it's original holster. It is exactly the same as the standard issue Webley holster. Back then the holsters were simpler "pocket" styles and wern't neccesarrily made for just one specific gun like most holsters now-a-days.
The WG will fit in any standard Webley holster.
