I FINALLY got my moulds done! Yay!

This was the very first test pour. The resin is cold cast Aluminum.
The bright silver pieces are pewter. Grips are dusted brown with black
resin base and clear coated to protect the brown pigment.

I haven't drilled out the barrel so it's "convention friendly"... but it could
be done pretty easily.

The grip bolts aren't 100% accurate to the original, but as close as I can
get for now with off the shelf parts.

I'm redoing the lanyard loop as it's not quite right and I ran out of black
paint, so it's just silver/grey colored right now, but I'm very happy with
how it turned out!

Yes, I know the ammunition is a modern .455 round. That's because
I couldn't source a vintage set of ammunition for less than an liver,
spleen and two kidneys. I need to keep my squishy parts on the inside
where they belong.

You know, the Webley might not be everyone's favorite as far as shooting accuracy and power, but it sure is a neat design. Makes me consider a "Raiders of the Last Crusade" gear-up.

Heh, that's the direction I'm heading.

I hope to have some paint tonight and then we'll see what we see.

Artsee charges appx. 125-145 for his solid cast MKVI.

I was thinking of doing an initial run for COW only members for around $130. Shipping overseas will of course be higher.

What countries currently ban the importation of replicas?

I know Australia, UK and Canada are the tough ones.

I know they're legal in Sweden. Any other countries where it's legal?

Or, barring that, are there any of the "restricted" countries that have special requirements for importation? Bright orange paint, etc?

Finally got some paint...

No flash...

With flash...

In the pictures the flash really obscures the weathering. It looks better in person than it does in the pictures. I need to do a little more to the top edge of the cylinder where the brass is, and a little more on the outside of the cylinder where the holster would wear the finish.

I'm pretty happy over all with how it turned out. I ordered some brass grip posts to replace the shiny aluminum one in my prototype.

I decided to try drilling the barrel out a little. It's... okay.
Not perfect but passable. It's hard drilling into a piece that long by hand...
and avoiding going to one side or the other.

Just need to re-do the lanyard ring and it should be good to go.

private packages from the states usually get through customs if you mark it as a "gift" and also declare it as an "antique toy/prop gun". that's how i got mine.

I don't normally buy replica guns as I prefer the real thing.

You did a nice job on that though and it would be nice for conventions, etc.

I may actually order one. Let me think on it a bit.

Any chance you could drill out the barrel just 1" or 2" or so? Just enough so that at a glance it looks better, but so where you could see it's not a real firearm with a little closer look. (Like when the cop wants to see the gun...)

And ya, things normally get into Canada as long as they are marked 'antique toy/prop gun' and a gift. And maybe a note inside saying its made of resin etc... in case they take a peak inside (had a ToD colt shipped to me and it was inspected and still got through

If you do start producing them en masse and do want to drill the barrels a bit I'd recommend buying an inexpensive drill press at one of the box stores. That will guarantee accuracy.

It's not as heavy as the real steel of course, but it currently weighs in at about 13 ounces. Once I add the lanyard ring and one more small detail part it should go up a little more.

It seems pretty heavy (at least that's what EVERYONE I've handed it to has said).

Did some more weathering on the prototype.
I messed up the cylider wear which I'm unhappy with, but I liked how the grip frame and hammer came out. The trigger could use a little more but there's a fine line between taking enough and too much, especially when using a tool that's as imprecise as steel wool.

Also have the final detail piece finished and the lanyard ring to drop into silicone and we'll be good to go!

Rook, some have included information in the actual threads while others have started new threads. You can always put something in the classifieds, but the old ads get weeded out after a month or so. It might be easiest to edit your first post in this thread by adding current run information, including a list of folks in line, if you wish, and then post bumps so people know to check out the first post for updates. I'll let you do all this for a free replica. (Just kidding!

I wish I had the money for one of these, though!)

Good question. Whenever I sell a kit of any kind I take the time to test fit EVERYTHING and pre drill any necessary holes to make sure nothing went south somewhere along the line.

Having said that, I don't see an issue offering the same price for either the "raw" kit or "Basic Black" paint scheme. For the initial COW run I could probably do the weathering too, but it would take longer for the buyer to receive their kit due to the time involved.

After that it will cost you... ONE MEEELION DOLLARS! Muahahahaha...

Well, the pictures posted above pretty much show how I weathered the prototype.

As far as the real gun... tough call. All the screen caps I have are pretty weak. There's only one or two really decent shots of the pistol, and the closest image we see in LC is when he pulls it from his pants belt.

The wear on my own pistols is pretty minimal, some barrel wear, cylinder but not the extensive grip frame wear I put on the resin version.

Yes, very nice work. I own a real Webley WG but would definately consider purchasing your reproduction for "costume" purposes. So put me on the list!

The idea of only drilling the barrel out a little bit so that you could easily tell that it is a model is definately the way to go. This would also allow you to insert an orange foam "ear" plug into the end of the barrel if you needed to while in public. This is what I do with my real WG.

Also a mild weathering would also be best as the gun will acquire a "true" weathering once carried in a holster for a while.

I'll keep an eye on this post and keep us informed when they are ready!!
