Akubra and AB mix-up

It happens to me all the time

that although I change my headdress, one day AB the other day Fed. Del., no one ever recognized that I wear two kind of hats

For me as a Indy fan it is absolutely inconceivable to mistake an Ab for a Fed. Del.. I know that we are a kind of crazy

, but I´m interested in the question: Is it just up to us, that we are a bit to precise or is it up to all the others, who are unable to differ from two similar hats

I think it's a combination of both. We've all gotten too used to picking out the little differences, so we can see how much nicer the AB is. But at the same time, lots of people mistake any brown fedora for an Indy hat. I had a wool POS and nobody even noticed when I got my Fed, except one person who said my hat looked a little darker.

Well, we're way more familiar with the subtleties. We're like the girlfriend who pouts "I'm wearing new shoes and you didn't even notice".

I know SEVERAL people who have flat out told me to my face: "A hat is a hat." I could wear my fed Monday and my AB Tuesday, and they would never notice the difference. Even Mel has said to me that she never noticed the difference between the hats in the movies, but she'd know if I was wearing a different hat. I think you have to understand that we are aficionados. To us, we care. To others, it's not that they don't care at all, they just don't care enough to really pay attention to that. To them, it's a minor detail.

We notice and care because we are that interested. You have to be that interested to notice and care. I mean .. ok .. Michaelson will probably smack me all the way back to California for this, but ... to me, coffee is coffee. I don't know the difference between this coffee and that coffee. You could drink coffee on Monday that smelled one way, and coffee on Tuesday that smelled another way, and I wouldn't know it from Folgers crystals.

I don't drink coffee all that much, so it doesn't interest me enough to pay that much attention to the detail. There are people who take coffee seriously, man. I mean .. SERIOUSLY. I know and have known people who would absolutely never drink Folgers crystals if they were paid to, and go through their morning feeling crappy if they were out of their brand until they got to a Starbucks or something so they could get the kind of coffee they liked. Man, if someone offered me a cup of coffee at their house, I would smile and hold out my cup and thank them for their offer.

I think you are quite right, let me just accent one thing a cup of drip grind is always better than any cup of...instant coffee

coffee is a fine example for sure. I can generally tell if a cup is freshly ground, out of the can , or GASP instant. Same thing as a fine hat. The rich texture, the fine smell, and an overall attention to detail to make a fine product.
Man, now i need to go make me a cup of joe AND go order my AB fedora.
