Ok..I gotta ask...

To whom do the FS Expedition and the Wested Raiders jackets featured on the main gear page (the comparison shots at the bottom) belong?

They BOTH look fantastic, but that Expedition has graining and coloring almost identical to my deerskin Expedition.

And I'm needing to clarify something. The new handwarmer pocket setup on the Expo....are they now doing it like Wested, with the deep pockets that go down into the jacket, or are they just stitching a single layer of leather to the body of the jacket instead of two (like they did before)? For those familiar with US Wings, the single layer of leather stitched to the body is how they do their handwarmers. I never use them, consequently, because it pulls on the leather, affecting the drape of the jacket. Wested's pocket setup is much more "user friendly" ...

Those were shot in my office. The FS belongs to Sergei. The Wested belongs to........his name excapes me. He goes to school in England, but is from Texas. He was visiting in LA.

Actually I plan on redoing the shoot out when my authentic lamb returns (it's on its way!). The one in those photos is the old darker Wested lamb.

Also it will be a better comparison to see the same guy wearing the jackets (like the shirt page). That will keep it apples and apples.

Well, then...

Sergei...no WONDER you're as excited as you are about that jacket...that thing really looks nice! It's nothing like the seal chrome goatskin of Mike Marosy's that I had (and Michaelson now has) in color, but it's truly a thing of beauty. I look forward to the shoot out comparing the FS goat to the Wested authentic lamb.

Now....about those pockets...

FS Patch pockets

Post by Prescott »

FS now uses a single piece of leather and some lining material to separate the top entry from the side entry. The side entry pocket does not go through the jacket into the lining. It was felt that this design wouldn't compromise the strength of the jacket.

The only thing I would add to the better design of the FS pocket is that the drape is better and when you sit down the cargo pockets don't ride up.

...and all that is due to the discussions we had with Dave last QM summit about the double thickness he was putting into the pocket fronts, and that he subquently eliminated, using my Chrome goatskin jacket as the prototype. I wonder what will be accomplished at THIS QM summit? With the experience in this hobby that is currently lined up, and Peter and probably Dave in attendence, I have a feeling that the products that will be offered starting in June and July of this year will be the most accurate we've witnessed to date! Wow! =P~ I wish I could be there to meet y'all and also be a part of history. Alas, I shall have to enjoy it vicariously through COW.

You know, I only saw the current shootout on the main page since COW was out of commission for a few days. I need to go there more often.

Funny thing is, I just saw the shootout only two days ago so at least I know what you're talking about aaaannd, I was thinking that we need the same guy wearing the jackets as well as photos of the newer Wested. Looks like that's all been taken care of.
