Wested jacket color, U.S. Wings jacket choice and sizing

Post by INDIANA_7 »

Hi,

I was curious as to the darkest brown color that wested leather offers in their Indy jacket line. According to their site, the leather sample page shows the Authentic brown as being rather lighter than the other leathers pictured, yet Peter mentions that the original Raiders jacket was made in Authentic (seal) brown. I'm a little confused as to which brown is actually darkest. I had ordered many Indy jackets through wested over the last several and never had a problem with the color until approximately three years ago, I placed an order for a Raiders style in goat and it turned out to be a lighter brown shade than the others I own. As a result, I have not worn the jacket ever. I just want to be clear, in the event I should place another order.

I was also interested in purchasing a vintage cowhide Indy jacket from U.S. Wings but wasn't too sure about it's appearance, although the website pic's make the jacket look really nice. Has anyone here ever purchased the vintage cowhide and if so, is it worth the purchase price?

My last concern with U.S Wings, is the sizing. I'm a 46 regular. Not sure if I should go a size smaller or order the jacket at my normal size. Any info regarding the above mentioned topics would be great.

Best regards,

I would assume that the darkest brown color Wested uses is dark brown leather? ;)

Yeah, the auth. brown is a lighter hot chocolate-like color whereas the dark brown is closer to the color of coffee.

The vintage cow jacket from wings is quite light in color and requires treatment with pecards to darken it. The quality is good though....

You have to distress the authentic brown like they did in the films to get it to look as dark as it did on screen. It was never a dark brown jacket.

This is a distressed authentic brown.

Hey,

Thanks for all the input. I hope to get my next wested order correct. I also think I'm going to give that US Wings vintage cowhide a shot.

Best regards,
