INDIANA FATTY

Post by Red Dust »

When I ordered a shirt I decided to go for wested considering i was ordering the jacket also, When i ordered I went for a medium... in the U.K. a medium would fit me pretty much dead on and I happen to be a slender build.

When I recieved the shirt it was surprisingly big, It seemed as though it was american sizes (No Offence). So i sent it back for a small, (I thought a small would be a childs option but appparently not).

Well the small shirt fitted me better on the shoulders but I noticed there was still something about the shirt i was'nt happy about, it was the baggyness of it around the waste and mid section.

I asked my mum about this and she said that it was the style of cut back in the 30/40/50's I accepted that but, When ever i saw HF wearing it seemed to accentuate his figure. (it's my belief that they made the shirt to fit Harrison to give him a better looking physique when wearing it) To make him look more heroesque rather than out of shape.

After I managed to make my mum see my point of view she agreed she'd adjust the shirt for me, Basically all i wanted was her to take up the slackness but leave me enough room to swing my arms and evil nazi's when nessesary!

One downside obviously is that the screen acurate appearance of the back of the shirt will suffer with having two seams down it. But i think the plus' out weigh the negetives with a shirt that genuinely looks like it fits you (and in my opinion has the shape of Indy's shirt)

PIC'S BELOW........(its my 1st time posting images so I'm not sure if its going to work? if it does'nt can someone advise me to.. Thanks) P.S. the 3rd pic i tightened the shirt over my back to show the seams better.

Out of curiousity, what are your measurements? I'm planning on ordering a shirt, but am afraid of it getting one a little too baggy as well.

Perhaps I might recommend trying out Noel Howard in the future? From what the others have been saying, I'm assuming it to be more a slimmer fit than the Wested?

Dude I don't know my measurements.... I just wore the t shirt and then my mum pinned it when it looked like the right size around my waist then took it off and she sewed the seams in.

I've got a bit of a spare tyre, 40" chest 34" (ish) waist and the fit of a small Wested shirt is good.

The slight annoyance is the epaulettes keep wanting to open up. It would also be nices if the fabric were 100% cotton so it wrinkled and puffed more SA.

If you ever do that again, I would suggest taking the seams down the sides of the shirt, where the normal seams already are. Then they would not even be noticeable. People that wear uniform shirts, do that quite often to tailor their shirts for a tighter fit.

I was really unsure about the Wested shirt fit, and WPG's reputation scared me... and I'm pretty big. I went with Magnoli. The fabric is a little thick, but it's very comfortable and the shirt is made to measure. Still, the NH shirt is very nice (I finally saw some recently).

I just got my Wested shirt Friday and it fits me perfectly. But I am a big guy. I'm 6'3 185lbs. the sleeve length is perfect and the shirt is a perfect fit. I'd buy all my shirts from wested if it wasn't so expensive.
